Hi all!

I figured I would intro myself, even though it seems our Central PA board isn't that active.  I'm Meghan, married a little over two years now.  I'm originally from FL, moved up here in 2008.

I feel a little pathetic because I have absolutely no friends here in PA.  Sad  I work from home and don't have any kids yet, so that doesn't help!

I have two dogs, a pug and a shih tzu-lhasa apso mix.  We just bought a house in Camp Hill in May.

Anyhoo, I just figured I would say hi!

Re: Hi all!

  • Hi Meghan!  Yes, unfortunately the board isn't very active any more.  A few years ago there were lots of people and posts.  Welcome!

  • Hi Meghan!
Don't feel pathetic, I have a few friends and I still manage to be lonely. ;o) I'm the last of my friends to have kiddies, so it's hard to get together with them.

    Welcome!!

  • Hi there!

We moved here in June and I've had a rocky work start, so we are very slow meeting people. I completely understand the lonely thing!

  • Thanks everyone!  It's been tough--I moved from where I grew up, so when I moved here it was a bit of a shock!  I met a few of my husband's friend's wives/girlfriends, but we tend to only hang out as couples--which I don't mind at all, but they are my husband's friends in a way, so I can't really vent about him to them, lol!  (Besides the fact my husband's best friend tends to date girls that are 10 years younger than us--they're all about partying and I'm over that!)

    Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome!! I totally relate to this...when we hang out with DH's friends it's always as couples and he says well they're your friends too, but it is totally not the same

  • Welcome! I moved out here in 2001 from the Pittsburgh area.  All my friends are pretty much DH's friends (the good ones at least) bc when I was working, I was working with all older women.  I SAH now.  I belong to a mom's group which helps get me out and I'm slowly getting to know them a little better.  Meetup.com is a great place to look for people with similar interests.
  • Hi & welcome!

I know what you mean, most of my friends have kids and we're not there yet. I have a very active, crazy dog.  And I'm not originally from York (moved to the area about 5 yrs ago) and I haven't made a single friend in the area...now that's pathetic! lol

    Married 6/10/09 in Bermuda.
  • Thanks again for all the welcomes!  You guys have definitely made me feel less pathetic, which I needed!  Smile

I moved to PA from Hawaii (about 15 years ago), and I am still sometimes in culture shock. LoL. I totally get where you're coming from though; all my friends have kids, all hubby's friends are single and par-tay-ing (and dating 18 year olds...eww).

Hmmm...maybe it's time for a Central PA Nest GTG? Anyone down?

  • Me! I'd love to go to a GTG!
  • Hello and welcome!  I'm Lisa Beth, my H is Mike and we recently moved to the Lancaster area.  I know what you mean about being pathetic without friends.  Before moving here, I was unemployed and didn't know anyone in Berks (originally from NJ)until I went to a few GTGs.  Thankfully now I have a job here, so it isn't as lonely.   Hope things look up for you soon!

  • I am so down for a gtg! I would love to meet other married ladies! I also have no children and my friends either have children or single and doing the bar scene! I'm also down for reviving the local board! Sometimes I feel like you can't post on some of the larger ones unless you have a biggilion points!Let's plan a gtg!
