Baby Boy Names

We found out the other day that we are having another boy! Yay! DS#1 is Maddox Bronson. I love his name. We really like the name Paxton and middle name will probably be Hendrik (after my Opa). I posted this on the Baby Names board and EVERYONE said it was way too Angelina Jolie-ish to have Maddox and Paxton. I didn't even know those were her kids names! So, am I just totally out of the loop? Do you have that association when you hear those names? Or is it maybe an American thing? Please be honest!

Oh - and I know not everyone likes our choice in names and I'm totally fine with that! I'm more wondering if everyone will always be asking me if I named them after Brad Pitt's kids...haha.

Re: Baby Boy Names

  • I like the names:)  I say, just go for it.  If you really feel you need to change, how about Payton Hendrik?

  • To be honest, my first thought was Angelina Jolie. Looks like you guys have the same taste!

ETA: I wanted to add that really, you have to go with what you like. When I was pregnant, the only boys' name my husband and I could agree on was Ethan. Everyone told us it was too popular, but I didn't believe them. I had never known anyone named Ethan. To be sure, I asked my younger sisters (there is a huge age gap in my family, my youngest sister is 21 years younger than me, so I figured they'd be more up to date with popular name trends based on the names of their peers) if they knew any Ethans and they all said no. So we went ahead and named him that. And, although I was disappointed when I found out that everyone else was right and Ethan was the #1 boys name for 2008, the year our son was born, I still love the name and couldn't imagine him being anything else. So don't worry what others say, if you love it go for it.

  • I wouldn't automatically think that because I don't know the names of Angelina and Brads kids!

I say if you like it go for it, who cares if a celeb named their kids the same thing,

  • I can't deny that I thought of Jolie's kids first, and I think they're a famous enough family (right now) that many people will make that association.

BUT! Go with the names you love!

  • I'll admit that when I read Maddox I thought of Angelina Jolie, but I totally forgot that her other kid had a similar name to Paxton until you said it.

I say just do what you want.  Eventually the Pitt's will fall to the backburner, and people won't even remember their kids' names.

  • I completely thought you were copying them.  Sorry.
