It was brought to our attention today that Westboro Baptist Church members are planning to protest/picket at the funeral services tomorrow for the 3 teens who were killed in a car wreck this week. The county Sheriff was at school today and this is from the "news release" from WBC's website he gave our principal:
WBC to picket memorial for Leah, Josh, and Andrew, struck down in their prime by an angry God, at *insert school* to remind Oklahomans: "Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm". Ps 105:15
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" Pr. 22:6
The residents of faux-Christian infested Oklahoma raise their children for the devil, and expect the blessings of God. Then, when God curses them for that rebellion, they think they can stop WBC's Gospel message by vandalizing WBC property. As a result of their mistreatment of the Lord's servants and their refusal to train up their children in the ways of the Lord, God Himself continues to kill more children in evil Oklahoma.
Thank God for more dead Oklahomans!....
Now the funeral will include police officers and barricades, just what their mother wanted I'm sure....I just can't believe these people and that they have the audacity to call themselves Christians.
All that to say this----please keep this family and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. I'm truly hoping those crazy lunatics from WBC do not show up tomorrow.
Re: This makes me sick (Re: Westboro Church)
I hate these people (and I say that very rarely!) I think they're a unity horse. I'm as liberal as a human being can probably be, and support the right to free speech, and not even a Christian, but, morally, I find them disgusting. They definitely don't represent all of the followers of Christ. I'm sure that anyone with half a brain realizes the same. In fact, when teaching about religion, I use them as an example. "You know how the WBC crazies don't represent Christians? Nor do the suicide bombers represent Muslims."
Here's my hope for you----if the WBC crazies show up (which would be a lot of travel for them coming from the soldier's death near my home town and Elizabeth Edwards' funeral) I hope that the Hell's Angels and Patriot Guard also show. There is something so moving to me about seeing those grizzlied older biker guys fight back against this kind of hate. I suspect that if we all just ignore them (which is SO hard!) they'll go away. Peace be upon the mother who lost three children (and he husband a few years ago, correct?) I can't even imagine...
Hopefully they're all talk just like they were for the Burneyville girl who died in that tragic accident down there. They said they were going, but didn't make it. Weren't they planning on protesting at Elizabeth Edwards's funeral, as well?
I agree that it is sick what they do, especially since they tray and parlay it into something that they are doing for God; however, they're like a child that screams for attention. If you keep giving them what they want (attention) they'll keep screaming for it. Maybe we should stop being shocked by their actions and ignore them?
