DH was planning on getting me a smartphone for Christmas, and couldn't keep it a surprise b/c he wanted to make sure he was getting me the one I wanted. I hadn't looked into which one, so there was no clear path for him. So he's asking me to look at the options and see which I might like.
So I am looking for any input you might have- what kind of phone do you have (and do you like it?) Does it have MP3 capabilities? Touchscreen? Physical vs virtual keyboard suggestions?
I'm looking for one that isn't ginormous (I'm barely 5'2" so my hands are pretty small), can play MP3s, has a touch screen preferably and can do email, FB and hopefully be able to get on here! (and typing in some form or another) Thanks for your thoughts ladies! Off to do some additional research . . .
Re: Smartphone reviews?
I'm the exact opposite of Laurie. I have an iphone and DH has a BB. I can't use his phone - period. Like I just don't understand it! The iphone for me is super user friendly and everything is where it's supposed to be so I don't find myself in the state of technological frustration that I get every time I touch a BB. The touch screen is a little weird, but I got used to it in just a day or two. DH always uses my phone when he needs directions or to google something because he says the iphone is easier for that.
I agree with Rachel. I loooove my iPhone! I just got the iPhone 4 and I love it! DH just switched to the Samsung Captivate which is an android. He loves that phone, however misses the iPhone. There are so many more options for the iPhone (i.e. cases, covers etc etc). It's an iPod and phone all in one. It's extremely user friendly and I think it's one of the smaller smartphones. There are some cases for the iPhone 4 that have a physical keyboard attached I think. However, the iPhone will eventually learn how you type on the touch screen keyboard. Which is really nice!
Let me just say I LOVE my phone!!! I have the iphone 4G. I am also a small person at almost 5'2". I have no trouble texting or typing with one hand. I also have a cover on it. Its called the otter box. I highly recommend it. i dropped mine in the driveway and ran over it. My stepdad found it without a scratch on the phone! I was so worryied it would be all messed up.
It has a touch screen with a virtual keyboard. I am on fb, and on the nest throughout the day. It has GPS, email, you can also print form you phone. it also has a video recorder. I believe it has MP3 capabilities but i am not certain on that. i just upgraded to the iphone 4g. before that i had the iphone 3.
There are many smart phones out there. I have firends that have blackberries and love them. I would find a phone that fits you. they all have great features. it you want more info on the iphone use the link below.

Question!! what is DH. i am assuming that it has something to do with husband. Dearest Husband?
my read shelf:
Dear or Darling Husband, so you were very close
my read shelf:
Lisa, which phone carrier do you have? I think the phones are sometimes dependent on your carrier.
I have a Samsung Exclaim from Sprint. While I don't know if it would be considered a smartphone, I do love my phone. It has a FB tile already programmed in and it's pretty easy to get on here and other websites. It also has a slideout keyboard which I love. The one thing that would be bad about it, but it's still not horrible is that the internet service is sometimes rather slow.

I have 2 Blackberries (one for work, one personal), and they're okay. DH has a Droid and LOVES it. Most of our friends have switched to Droids and I haven't heard one complaint. I'll probably be switching to a Droid myself in a couple months unless Verizon starts carrying the IPhone.
To me, the carrier is more important than the phone. Hardly anyone I know has an IPhone since AT&T coverage around here (NYC) is awful, pretty much everyone is on Verizon. BTW, since you are in the Philly area - my sister who lives in Philly switched to AT&T to get an IPhone and it was a huge mistake; her phone is great on the rare occasion she can actually get a call through and not have it drop off, AT&T has been awful for her.

Verizon is supposed to start carring the iPhone in the first quarter of 2011!!! AT&T's exclusive rights to it run out very soon. I'm so glad b/c I really want an iPhone but I hate AT&T so I'm gonna wait it out.
