So now that things are relatively calm- I'm going to get started on some house projects I've been chomping at the bit to start. I moved in with FI in the summer in order to clean and repair my house to get it ready for market. I definitely did not make his place reflect me at the time of the move. Now I am ready to dig in (since he can't get rid of me now!). Anyway - I am taking on the bathroom first - A yucky cabinet I hate is getting an overhaul. After that it's the search for a couch and curtains. And painting. Oh lord the painting...
I don't even want to think about the basement full of boxes. I have most of the post wedding stuff organized and ready to donate to my friend who is an upcoming bride.
What are you working on?
Re: What's your first big project?
I'm still trying to find homes for all our wedding gifts.
I'm with you on the home projects...
James is almost done with some custom shelves he built for me for the living room - we have this little 4-ft nook that is painted teal, and the rest of the LR is wood paneling (it's pretty, don't knock it), and he made 8 shelves out of crown molding, which are being painted white (I painted 6, he gave up on me and painted the other 2) so there will be 4 on each side of the nook, for pretties... I'm super ready to have those finished.
I have tons of pictures and such that I want to hang around the house...
And I want a dining room table!!! I'm stoked to have a formal dining, but it's pretty lame that the first thing you see when you come in our house is a big empty room with beautiful tre (sp?) ceilings, and a FUGLY chandelier... so I want to tackle that room.
And our wet bar... Hubs tore it up months ago, to start remodeling it, but then has been waiting on me to figure out how I want it... and I've finally come up with a design that won't cost tons of money, so now we can finish it...
Man, the list never ends.

Well, I finally got all the wedding/shower presents put away in a very organized manner. At first, I just threw everything in the kitchen wherever they would fit. I finally re-organized and it's awesome.
Up next, I have to get our spare bedroom in order. I'm also planning on building a shelving system for our bathroom (with DH's help, of course). The metal rack we have in there now is just not working for us.
I still need to put away all the shower/wedding presents! I started to a bit this past weekend, I hope to make more progress starting tomorrow.
We definitely have to work on the spare room, that's where all the stuff has been thrown to get it out of the way. We need to organize basically everything from gifts to DH's stuff that he has moved in. At least it's helping me purge the things that I've had for years that needs to go!
As in do I really need a whole box of tapes any more? I don't even have a tape player? Why oh why do I hang on to crap like that? Hahah!
That's how our spare bedroom was. We just put all the presents in there to keep them out of the way. Now that the presents are no longer in there, we've been putting other junk in there. It's never-ending! I'm hoping to turn it into my craft room, but we'll see. Maybe I can talk DH into helping me build a desk for it
It's the wedding cleanup for me as well...
We received gifts from all four weddings that have to somehow be put away. We also have to thank all those people (I'm estimating 600 notes... yikes!). I really want things in good shape before Christmas so we can have people over.

OMG - HA! I have that same box and no player either!!! Sounds like some of you are crazy busy - that's awesome. 4 weddings and 600 notes, I cannot even fathom.

Great thread. Everyone seems to be doing house projects...
For me, first of all there's a lot of wedding follow up. I have about 5 photo books to create...no, 6. In addition, there's a scraptbook. Then I have to get organized and sell leftover wedding supplies to local knotties. And also decide what to do with certain wedding items I want to keep.
Next on the list are hobbies that I want to take up, primarily learning more about the history of musicals, knitting, and learning French.
So...I sure hope this will keep me entertained, because I am for sure feeling the wedding planning withdrawal. If all this fails, there's always video games.
