pray for my BFF (sad and long)
As I was getting ready for my day out with the girls to see The Nutcracker this afternoon, my phone rings and I see it's my BFF. When I answer, she is crying so hard I can't even understand what she's trying to tell me... Until I finally decipher a "he left". She has been in a long term relationship with a good man who happens to have some psychological problems (bi-polar) that, in the past, made him a crappy boyfriend. But, after they broke up for 2 years and he hit bottom, quit his job and had to move out of state to live with his parents to get proper treatment, he slowly got better and was eventually in a good place again. He and BFF then got back together with the understanding that this was it. He would move in with her and they would be a family (she has an 8 year old son from her first marriage that ended because her ex was absuve... This is when she moved to my town and we became close friends) and ultimately, when in a better financial situation, get married. But last night, he did all of his laundry, kissed her goodnight, then went for bagels this morning and never came back. He called her a few hours later to say that he wasn't ready for all that (after living together for over a year and just recently renting an awesome house) and would pick up the rest of his things while she's at work Monday. I am so angry with him and I can understand getting a little freaked out, but to just run out on them right before Christmas without so much as a goodbye or a discussion is disgusting. I am not religious, but I know many of you ladies are (and so is BFF), so please say a prayer that she gets through this and can find some peace. TIA.
