BC and Yeast Infections

Does anyone know if there is any correlation between the pill and a yeast infection? I feel like with the start of a new pack, a new infection comes. Right now, thats the only thing that I can think that may be causing it.

Re: BC and Yeast Infections

  • I am prone to yeast infections. My doctor said everything from non-cotton underwear, tight pants, bubble baths, laundry detergent and the pill all have an effect on the pH balance in your body causing yeast infections. So yes, it very well can be the pill. Talk to your doctor about and see if there are any other options for you. Also do you have yogurt in your diet? My doctor recommended yogurt everyday with a live bacterial culture to help keep me balanced down south.

  • There is a link with your period. I had to take Diflucan for 5 months the day before I started my period and two days later. I haven't been on the pill in 10 years.
  • I noticed a correlation between wearing a pad and yeast infections. As soon as I started with tampons all my problems went away!

  • It mentions this is the package insert for birth control pills, so yes!
  • I got an infection every month the entire time I was on the pill, when I stopped the pill they stopped.
