Treading Lightly.. anyone TTC?

While I know that there are a lot of November knotties out there that just want to settle down, enjoy married life, look for a house, decorate the one they have already, or simply just relax, I'm one of those that are trying to conceive. We had been waiting until the wedding to be able to even try to have a baby and now that the wedding is over and it's been almost a month since the wedding, we are currently TTC.

Are there any other nesties out there trying to conceive?

Re: Treading Lightly.. anyone TTC?

  • We're not trying, but I'm also not using BC.  We're doing the whole natural family planning birth control method (sympto-thermal) where you abstain from sex during fertile times.  If I get pregnant accidentally, I will be more than elated, but DH and I won't specifically try for probably 8-12 months or so.

He wants a baby now.  He thinks he's getting old (28, I'm 26). But with how our house is, we can't fit a child in it.  It's just too small.  So the plan is to save for a downpayment until we can move at the end of 2012.

  • We are actively trying. We tried last month, but found out the Monday before the wedding that it didn't work. Hopefully we have better luck this month.

If you aren't charting yet, I suggest it. TCOYF is the best thing ever, for both avoiding and trying. Its amazing the things you will learn about how your body works and your own personal signs of fertility, so you can concentrate your tries.

  • We are not avoiding! :) But we can't actively try quite yet. We are using Natural Family Planning (aka "fertility awareness" - Creighton model) but no artificial BC or barriers. We would be happy with a pregnancy but also, my charting shows I may have some hormonal issues that need further study/treatment. So we're traveling in a few weeks to see a specialist. We're hoping in the next 6 months or so to pinpoint and treat some of the issues (thyroid, low progesterone?), in hopes that I can get as healthy as possible for pregnancy. I hope your TTC journey goes well. :) I am honestly excited... I can hardly believe we've reached that point were children really could be a reality soon!
  • Not yet. I am still on BC, but we want to be in a better place financially first, so maybe within the next 6 months (keeping my fingers crossed)

  • Not yet... I'm that person who absolutely was not having babies before the ring, despite his family pressures..... And now that we're married, I find myself thinking about it A LOT.  Before we were married, I wouldn't hardly let myself think about babies... and now, I just keep thinking I could have one anytime (well, not really, but you know what I mean).  I'm still on BC, but I'm hoping that I can find a different job soon so I'd actually have time for a baby, and maybe start TTC within the next year or so...
  • We're not trying but we're also not doing anything to prevent it. I just stopped taking BC after the honeymoon but I haven't charted/temped. I have my yearly gyno appointment on Friday anyway and AF is due Saturday, so we'll see.
  • well we are not trying, but for some reason i havent got my period from november and my prego test (2) are saying negative. I have a doc appointment scheduled. Although we arent trying, we wouldnt be upset if we conceived. We have also been using the same prevention method we have been using since we were 15years old. Id be shocked if i got preggo now. i wish everyone luck and happieness in their journey to making babies :)

  • I've been doing OPK and I started charting and doing my BBT. I too am somewhat afraid I might have something going on. I had a very large cyst on my ovary that was removed in January, but my cycles have never been regular and I have many pms problems and pains... going off BC is a love/hate relationship.... love it because it means I'll be able to try to have a baby, but hate it because all of my miserable symptoms come back and my periods go back to be about 8 days long (very heavy, blah blah)

I've also been taking prenatal vitamins for several months now and  will try to really work on getting in shape, just in case. Good Luck to all you ladies TTC... or "not" TTC ;)

Faith - ugh, I have horrid PMS... that was the first major clue I might have some hormonal imbalances (that and a short cycle). I finally (officially) made the appt with the specialist today -  Jan. 7th!!! I am nervous but excited. We're going to use a NaProTechnology-trained physician who specializes in treating endometriosis... we'll see how it goes!

  • Well I'm already KU................ so we didnt have to try! The first trimester was HORRIBLE but so far the second one is good, still not showing at all so it doesnt seem "real" yet
