I really don't know what board this would go on; NuvaRing users
Ok, so I've been taking NuvaRing since march. I've gained almost 30 lbs, but I gained on my other birth control when I was on it, so I just assume it's normal.
Anyways, last month I didn't get my period after taking the ring out. So I took a test and it was negative. Well this month I didn't get it either. Has this happened to anyone else on nuvaring? I'm starting to get concerned.
Sorry for asking here, I've seen other birth control questions here and thought this was probably the best place to ask.
Re: I really don't know what board this would go on; NuvaRing users
I never missed a period or had a late period on Nuvaring. Are you under severe stress that would delay your period this long?
I'd consult my doctor if I were you.
I've started college and being just married could do it. But I don't really feel stressed. The only thing that's really changed is that I stay up late to see DH when he gets off from work at midnight, and get up really early. Needless to say, I'm exhausted.
We've moved and I'm looking for a new gyno. I called my old one to try and make an appointment, who's 2.5 hours away, and he doesn't have any openings until late January.
I looked at the nuvaring site and it said that if you've done everything right (which I have) and miss 2 periods in a row you could be pregnant and need to stop taking nuvaring. I took a test last month and just took one now, both were negative. Could they both be wrong? argh.
Same here.
PS - Are you going to school in Chatt? I went to UTC
That's where I go!
I WAS on nuvaring until I realized I had gained 15 pounds and in the year I had used it, I missed my period twice, never in a row though. I no longer use the nuvaring. Still see your doctor, like the others girls recommended, just incase. Hopefully that takes a little of the scare off?
I am on the Nuva Ring. I've gained like...25 pounds in a year. I've never completely missed a period while on it, buuuut after I take the ring out sometimes it will take between a few days to 2 weeks for it to finally show up and it is always very light. I had a few "WTF COULD I BE PREGNANT?!" moments while waiting for my period but it always eventually showed up.

See a doctor. Thats obvious.
I dont think stress can cause you to miss a period if you are on hormonal bc because its not a real period. I was on nuvaring for almost a year but stopped last week because it was making me moody and killed my sex drive. I actually lost weight on nuvaring but have gained weight on other bc pills before.
Agree.
I have been on it for four years. I have never missed a period. I have not gained any weight as a direct result of the ring.
Please see a doctor.
You're leaving it in for 3 weeks and taking it out for 1, right? You should be having a period. Plus, gaining 30 lbs isn't particularly normal. You should talk to your DR about this.
Also, OTC pregnancy tests aren't the most accurate things out there. To increase the likelihood of a correct result, you should do it first thing in the morning (not at any other time), and make sure to follow the directions exactly.
They could both be wrong if they're being taken at 11:30 at night (as per the time stamp on the last post.) Don't wait to see your gyno about this. Find a family practice physician in your current town, or check with your school medical clinic, but you should really get in to see somebody about this within the next two weeks or so.
I've been on the NuvaRing for 7 YEARS and have never missed a period (unless I wanted to- I run my rings back to back regularly) and haven't gained ANY weight. You definitely need to see a GYN. And the missed period could be from the sudden weight gain. GL!
I've been using the Nuva-Ring for over 8 years now, and I've never gained weight from it - just from stuffing my face! LOL.
Sudden weight gain (30 lbs is a lot) and stress (getting married AND starting school? You may not feel stressed but fatigue is a sign of stress) will definitely knock things out of wack and may cause a hormone imbalance. I would see a doctor immediately.
If you can't get an appointment with the gyno you want, try your local Plannned Parenthood or the free city clinic. I went to the free clinic in my city a few years back and it was surprisingly clean and they have walk-in hours.
Good luck!
Once I forgot to take it out for a week (total stress time and I was a week behind on everything including that ugh). I didn't have a period for a few months.
I talked to my dr. she said if that happens the birth control isn't working to its full potential. She said I may not be preggers but i'm not using it right and she tried to switch me to something else to get my period going agian.
