I hate UTI's..

and my urinary tract. I've been getting frequent UTI's since the week before the wedding and it's so annoying.  I think this is the 6th or 7th one.

I started getting one yesterday at work, which is nice since I was working alone (police dispatcher) and can't just go to the bathroom whenever I feel the need. So I called off today because I refuse to torture myself with that again. I'll be calling the doctor first thing tomorrow so they can call in an antibiotic for me. I also will be calling a urologist, which I should have done 3 weeks ago when I had my last UTI. I guess I was hoping that by upping the amount of cranberry pills I am taking that it would keep them away.

Gold - I know you went to see a urologist.. was it scary?? Do you just pee in a cup and leave? What did they do to fix your problem?

Anniversary

My issue was that I was constantly peeing/had the feeling of a full bladder, but had no other symptoms. I peed in a cup, and they used something like an ultrasound on my bladder (to check the fullness). That was it. It wasn't scary, so don't worry! Hope you get some relief (pun intended) soon!

  • UTIs DO suck.  This is probably common knowledge, but make sure you pee immediately after sex and make sure you wipe front to back.  I've had a few.  It's not fun.

That's all I've got too! Just the full feeling and needing to go all the time! Thankfully no other symptoms either.

What's the end result?? Did they stop for you?

My doctor talked about putting me on a daily low dose antibiotic to help with the problem, but I told her I'm not comfortable taking that daily.

This had been going on for about 1.5 yrs for me. I thought maybe it was just my body changing, but it got to the point where I would go to the bathroom about 5 times before I left the house if I knew I wouldn't be around another bathroom for a while - or I would pee, wash my hands and brush my teeth, and then have to pee again.

The urologist put me on CEPHALEXIN 500MG capsules (3 x 7 days). I think I had beta hemolysis, but I'm still not completely clear as to what it is/was. I think it was a bacteria.

    GL!

  • They may want to culture your urine to see if you have a resistant bacteria.  It may be that the original infection never went away completely, just decreased with antibiotics and then came back.  At least that would be my thought if you were a dog Wink as I don't treat people, LOL.  And probably an ultrasound too to make sure there are no abnormalities causing chronic infections.

Every time I have gone to the doctor I pee in a cup. I certainly hope by now they would have sent it for a culture!! Thanks for the tips Wendy! It helps put my mind at ease!!

  • My poor puppy hates UTIs too!!!  Luckily, it's been a while for her.

I used to get them all the time too, and it was miserable.  I hope someone can find a reason for them so you can get some relief.

  • Ugh! I hope you feel better soon!

I'm pretty sure that's what I had on the HM. I had to pee ALL the time, it hurt like heck, the whole area was sore and inflamed, yeah... Super-fun. Sleeping in a tent, no showers, no hot water, lots of hiking, and, to reiterate, this was my honeymoon (and we hadn't had sex in months prior to the wedding). Sad

I drank a ton of water, got my hands on some cranberry juice, and became very serious about my lady-hygiene (I got some panty liners and wipes at the Dollar General in the nearest tourist town and used them like crazy). It cleared up in a few days. I don't know if UTIs even can go away without antibiotics, so it may have been something else, but it was awful and you have my sympathy for dealing with something similar. Sad

  • Yikes! I've never had one, thank goodness, but I hope yours clears up soon!
