So I planned my whole day around decorating the tree tonight. Getting baking done, making dinner, lunches and all that crap. I dont know how many times I mentioned to Jay that we would do the tree tonight.
I even said while dinner is cooking i'll help you put it in the stand, so we do.
Now at 7:45, he tells me we can't decorate it tonight it has to settle out. WHAT?! I thought thats what it was doing in the basement and why I made you get it yesterday!!!!! SERIOUSLY?! I'm so aggrivated. Now I dont know when it will get done. He has two work parties this week on top of he doesn't get home til 930 at night anyway. And I'm working Friday night. Next Saturday I had planned on baking during the day and then we are going into the city and to top it off its already the 18th then.
I hate that we get a real tree, i already hated it because of the needles and mess and now I hate it even more for delaying my decorating. I want to enjoy the dumba$$ tree before it dies.
God I sound whiny and b!tchy but i'm mad.
Re: Disappointed
Why does it have to settle? I never heard such a thing. Could he possibly be looking for an excuse to watch football?
Did you get everything or anything else done?
Yeah... This was my thought. My family always had a live tree, and it never had to "settle."
Granted, our trees were usually pretty ugly.
Trees only need to settle if you bought it and it was tied up in a bundle with twine or net. When you cut off the cords, it will fall open a bit, but you want to wait about a day for the branches to "settle" down into the position that it grew in.
If it was in your basement since yesterday, standing (or leaning) upright, and not tied...that's all the settling it needs. It doesn't need to further settle just because it's in a tree stand. Tell him I'm a Christmas tree expert and I said so.
(No joke, my parents own a TON of land, and my dad was a lumberjack. For fun. On top of his job as a teacher/principal. People used to come and get their Christmas trees from us.)
Yeah we always bought real trees when I was growing up and they were often bound up so we had to let it settle for a day or so. Now Adam only wants fake trees so we have to actually set that up and fluff it out, which in my opinion is a huge PITA.
I'm so sorry you're in a bad mood. I'd be really disapointed too, that's one of my favorite things to do.
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Yup... we always waited until the next day to decorate. Which REALLY pissed me off as a kid! LOL
What J said.... If it was chilling in your basement than it was fine.
Sorry your weekend ended crappy
yea apparently it wasn't chilling properly in our basement, it did look all bunched up when we got it in the stand so it did need to sit out yesterday and today,
He said we should be able to decorate it tonight, which means i have to wait for him to come home from work!
I did get over myself last night and we watched a movie.
