Hypnosis to quit smoking

DH has been smoking for over 10 years, and is looking into Hypnotherapy to help him quit.  We've done some google searches on the subject to see who offers this in RI or MA, but of course we would also like some personal referrals.  Is anyone familiar with this or know of anyone who has used this method to quit smoking?

TIA!

Re: Hypnosis to quit smoking

  • My husband went to a hypnotist many years ago at a hotel.  He did have temporary success, but went back to smoking a little while after.  I cannot remember the hypnotist's name; he traveled around the country and we heard about it on 94 HJY.

I have also heard about The Mad Russian in Boston.  My aunt went to him, but it didn't work for her.  If you google, you'll find reviews of him and it seems that many have had success.

I also bought my husband this book that a coworker's friend recommended.   I read it too.  It seemed to have a good premise to it.  I don't know if that helped DH.  He eventually set a quit date (my birthday 3 years ago), and he did well for a while... but he went back to smoking because he got stressed out at work.  To be honest, I don't even know if he still smokes; it is a sore subject with us so I know not to bring it up.  I suspect he does some nights when he's with his friends, but I can't imagine he does during the week when he's home with the little ones.  He doesn't stink anymore like ciggies though.

    Good luck to your husband!

  • my friends went to Boston...they haven't had one since..it has been over 5 years
