My in laws are horrible to shop for. They are the type of people who if they want something nice for themselves they will just go buy it. Which is great for them, but kind of tough to buy for people who have all they want/need. My MIL said she would check with FIL and see what he wanted and get back to me Sat...well now it's Monday and I'm not going to beg her to give me a list....so here I am with hardly any ideas on what to get them.
So far, I'm thinking a gift certificate to the Comedy Connection and a gift certificate to a restaurant.
Anyone have any other good gift ideas for about $50 each or $100 for both? What are you buying your in-laws?
Re: Need some gift ideas
I'd say that you tell your H that the ideas you have are gift certificates, and if he doesn't like those ideas he'll have to come up with/buy something on his own. After all, they are his parents.
We're getting SMIL and FIL a lobster pot and crackers...maybe some other stuff, but I don't know -- that part is up to MH. As for MIL and SFIL, I have no idea. I'm thinking a digital frame that we can pre-load with Owen pictures. Anything else is, again, up to MH.
Ugg I know how you feel. DH and I can come up with a million things to get my parents. But his...
His mom/stepfather don't go anywhere, don't do anything, don't need anything, never like anything we give them - on the short list is a candle and a gift certificate to the Amish store that they buy flour at - if the Amish even have gift certificates...
His dad/stepmother take care of themselves, go camping and to church, sometimes out to eat - but SMIL likes to cook so likes to stay home and do that.
Bottom line - we know my parents, we don't really 'know' his, don't spend enough time with them to see what might be useful in daily life. I know more about what I would buy all my neighbors than his parents.
