Re: *burkems*
Thanks so much for asking!
Well, there was a blizzard Saturday night into Sunday morning, so none of my family could come (they live three hours away). So that was kind of disappointing.
That aside, it was absolutely wonderful! May's dress (which I found online last minute and rush-ordered) looked so cute. She slept up until we went to the baptismal fount, then she woke up just in time to be handed to the pastor. She didn't make a peep when she woke up except to coo and smile at the vocalist who sang "God Claims You" to her. She was bright eyed and happy the whole time the pastor paraded her up and down the congregation so they could see her. Her being such a ham helped me not to cry, even though I was on the verge the whole time!
Since half of the invitees couldn't come, we have TONS of leftover food- but no worries, now I have lunch and dinner all week long! The only thing that kept it from being perfect was my family not being there, but to be honest (and this sounds bad) them being there probably would have stressed me out a little bit so maybe it's better they weren't!
I was thinking of you Saturday night as all the church closings were coming across the tv!
So glad to hear the baptism went well, what a bummer that Iowa weather interfered with all of the family coming
And I totally understand your "being on the verge of crying" part. I get teary-eyed at all of the baptisms we have at church, I can't imagine trying to hold it together for your own baby!
