Who wants to talk more about their August '06 wedding?

That's why we're here, after all.

Mine was just beautiful. I had 17 bridesmaids and they loved every minute of it, including the schedule I wrote out for them with workout regimens and how they'd wear their hair. They were so touched by the ceremony that they even used all of the TOJ packets we provided! Plus, DH and I made so much money during the dollar dance (not to mention our honeyfund registry) that we could afford the honeymoon of our dreams.

Looking forward to a super fun message board time chatting with alllll my anniversary twins (!!) about our weddings, hopes, dreams, and plans for future little bundles of joy. :-) weeeeeeee!

Re: Who wants to talk more about their August '06 wedding?

  • You'll need another secret board for that.  There's no way to exclude people here.
  • Half of my BM's didn't have their ears pierced, so I made them get them done or else they couldn't wear the earrings that I got them.

  • im still not over mine! i'm so glad I have you all to vent too!!!

  • Ooh I loved our money dance and I am so glad we went the cash bar and put we only wanted cash for wedding gifts!  I'm thinking of doing it all again for our first anniversary next August!

  • My ribbon wands were my favorite part of the whole wedding.  I collected them all back from my guests and built our headboard out of them.  It's sooooo beautiful (and great for bondage night, too!).

If only I could have had Unity Horse for our carriage ride, it would've been perfect.

  • We were able to buy a house thanks to our mortgage registry! Also, all my bridesmaids looked amazing after I made them all get plastic surgery to resemble Hollywood stars! Angelina Jolie - I mean, my friend Amanda - was my MOH.

  • I'm still pissed that all the butterflies I tried to release were dead.  Dead I tell you!

After I kicked out all my BMs for not helping me enough, I was much happier with their second tier replacements.

  • I planned the world's PERFECT wedding. Unfortunately a few of my BM's got pregnant in a desperate conspiracy to upstage me on MY day, but I handled it smoothly by demoting them to Program Passer-outers.?

My dress was the first Vera Wang I tried on in the salon. Nothing says perfect like a $8000 dress! I searched around for the perfect church- the one with the longest aisle for me to walk on. I provided limo transportation for all of my guests b/c I think it's klassy when guests are forced to drive themselves. Then at my reception I flew in actual Cuban people from Cuba to roll my cigars. Very authentic. Oh and the fireworks at then spelled out our names. *sigh* It was perfect.?

  • You guys!  I'm so jealous!

But I had a lot of fun at my wedding.  My sisters and I decorated the community center and made our bouquets and flower arrangements before we went off to my mom's house to get ready and pick up the crock pot.

I was so happy we decided to do a pot luck reception.  We saved sooo much money that way.  And my sundress from JC Penney was very pretty.  I'm relieved, even to this day, that DH decided to wear slacks instead of jeans!  And he even put on a tie, just for me!

    Those were the days!

  • Well, I had live goldfish and live doves. ?One actually placed the ring on my finger.

  • Mine is still going on. We decided that in honor of our undying love we ought have a perpetual wedding. I hope child welfare doesn't come after us--the ring bearer should probably technically be in 1st grade right now!

Did the doves descend from the sky after the heavens opened up and the voice of God pronounced you married? That happened at my BFF's wedding.

Can I break with the fun for a moment with a story?  On the military board, there was actually a woman who was asking how to arrange a vow renewal everydamnyear.  Seriously, she was going to throw a party and invite everyone and wear her dress.  Every year on their anniversary.  I'm am still proud that I refrained from answering that post.

  • Y'all need to quit being haters because I actually DID get married in August 2006!  What's funnier, whenever I open anyones bio, you all have the same wedding anniversary as me.  Weird.  I guess the Nest was really wanting us to stick around.
  • I'm close. ?Sep 1 06. ?Well, for the first wedding ;)

  • I really was married in August 2006.
And that's how I found this board.

  • I was also really married in Aug. 06. Woot woot!

Well, that was the third wedding anyway.

My first two weddings, in 1998 and 2003, were just awful. The respective grooms were both alcoholics (boy do i have a pattern!). The 2003 XH had just got out of the slammer and all his cell block buddies actually hired a stripper to perform at the ceremony. Awwwwkward. (Even more awkward was that it was my 98 XH's step daughter from a previous relationship. Guess she's all grown up now!).

But this current H is really awesome and our 06 wedding was sweet. I was really happy to invite his three daughters to be my BMs.They were really happy to wear the gold and glitter dresses I picked out for them. See, we went for a vegas "get rich" theme and thought gold glitter would compliment nicely. My gift to them was gold plated stainless steel necklaces in the shape of $. Everyone loved it. I really think the money theme helped people get on board the dollar dance portion of the wedding. We made $127!!!

Anyway, third times a charm, right?!
