What an eventful time!!! Started out Friday waking up at 3:30a...Went to pack up all the odds and ends and realized I ruined R's script for his 2nd ear infection (was supposed to be refrigerated and I left in in the medicine cabinet all night) was ruined. Had to spend most of the morning calling around to get it filled and picked up in a chicago pharmacy while on the train there.
The kids had a blast running around everywhere..went to the winter wonderfest and both kids loved the bounce houses and going through HUGE obsticle course bounce things. Even R! He was so tiny but could crawl up the 15 foot slide thing himself! They were worn out. I swear they did it about 15 times each.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites and it is just a REALLY nice place. Free cooked to order breakfast every morning (omlets, bacon, juices, eggs, pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, fresh fruit, anything you could imagine). And every evening FREE drinks and munchies for 2 hours. Alcoholic beverages too, anything you wanted...martini, beer, mixed drinks, wine. It was awesome.
Train left on time last night at 6:40p but there were wiring issues a few miles into the trip, and then a track issues (frozen) we were delayed several hours and didn't walk in the door until 4:45 this morning!
I came home to diarreah all over Bear's cage (as well as him covered in it) and the carpet in the living room. Both dogs got into coffee grounds that ryan spilled Thursday. The poor neighbor (who let our dogs out) said he had it the whole time and she was even letting him out every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I spent an hour and a half cleaning the carpet, cage, dining room, and kitchen floors and giving Bear a bath. Then I had to get ready and go to work this morning!
I'm beat. But it was a nice time! Weather could have been better but it was a nice getaway.
Re: Back from Chicago!
What Embassy did you stay at? We're looking to stay a night in Chicago in March.
That not a fun way to start the morning, but I'm glad you would've had fun. If it helps your flight probably would've been canceled so at least you got home.
There was a couple with 22 month old twins that had thier flight back to cleveland cancelled, that sucked!
Amber---Stayed at the lakefront embassy suites on n columbus drive. It's the one we alaways stay at. We still walk to all over from there. Close to navy pier, walked to the macy's area, close to michigan ave...Good location.
Booked through hotels.com and got it for $129/night (could have been $109 if we went with a king instead of doubles)! Prices change on there all the time. Oh and I don't know if you every stayed at an embassy suites but they are all suites with a separated bedroom/living room with a mini fridge and micro/sink. We like to stay there everytime we go if we can.
That is a great deal for an Embassy Suite (and in Chicago!!). We stayed at one in DC last summer & it was awesome! It had the same breakfast and the 2 hour drinks and snacks! We loved it!
Glad you had a fun trip!
