iPad users, do you love it?

So should I get one for my DH for Christmas? OR actually I already got it, but should I keep it or give it back?

Re: iPad users, do you love it?

  • I always feel I need to explain that we didn't actually buy ours, it was sort of a points redemption kind of thing.

Anyway, I do love mine, but I'm still not sure if it's worth the amount of money that it costs.  I've used it while traveling and it's really handy. I love checking e-mail on it from anywhere I go (with wi-fi). I'm not a big fan of the onscreen keyboard, but I've gotten pretty good at it. I love the Sky Walk app, which tells you all the constellations in the night sky, and I've used it as a giant ipod, too. I haven't downloaded any books to it, but I guess that's because I'm cheap and use the library usually.

Right now, it seems like a novelty, but one I was more than stoked to receive. If you have the money and won't freak out if a new & improved one comes out sometime next year - then I say go for it.

  • DH bought one for "us" when it first came out and I think I've been able to touch it once.  He never lets the thing go, he likes it so much.

  • I got one for DH for his bday and he loves it!! I've only been able to use it a handful of times but it is convenient (because of the size and amount of apps) and easy to use. It also depends on what he'll use it for.

  • I am not sure if he will like it but he can return it if he wants.

I actually didn't have to pay full price either, so that makes it a lot better.

    Thanks.

  • Everyone I know that has (or had) one used it like crazy at first, and then realized its limitations. If you go in knowing that it's not a replacement for a laptop, you'll be fine. Many of my friends tried to do that and were sorely disappointed.

But really, it's a giant IPod touch.

  • My husband LOVES ours, but he is a total Mac nerd. His main computer use at home has always been 'mousing' - searching the internet. He can still do that on the iPad. It also comes in handy when I can't sleep in the middle of the night, I can set it up and watch ABC shows. I've also read books on it and found it much easier than I thought, so we probably won't ever get a Kindle.

Also, it comes in very handy with cranky toddlers for long car and air trips :) My nephew can be entertained with games and movies and shoes for hours.

  • it's great for what we use it for .... internet access in the living room w/ a device we can put up far more easily that my bulky laptop.

we got it for my bday and used it extensivley for our trip to DC (h read a book on the flight there and back) and on sundays for fantasy football. yes, its pricey but imo the convenience of being able to put it up on a moments notice to keep it out of the hands of a 17 month old is priceless.
