You must be excited...Cliff Lee to the Phillies. I don't like baseball and I'm excited. Next year looks to be good.
Re: Becky
I couldn't stay up last night to wait. We have the alarm set to our local news radio station, so I literally woke up to the news of his signing. I'd like to say that I can't believe it (ok, I'm still pinching myself!) but Cliff Lee is the type of guy who isn't all about the money (obviously), so I'm really happy he wants to play here. The fans absolutely love him, he's a great fit for the team.
An article in one of the papers is speculating that the GM may use someone else in the rotation to trade for a RH bat/outfielder to replace Werth (who went to Washington for a crazy deal) and maybe some more depth in the bullpen, so we'll see what happens.
I'm very glad we decided to keep our partial season ticket package for next year!

Can you send someone to Milwaukee to explain this concept? It's pretty non-existent with the Brewers
Chris Lee will be a great addition to the team! Since he's no longer available
our best pick up, I think, would be Carl Pavano.
Julia, I'll talk to the Brewers if you'll tell our offense about the concept of small ball! It's always something. Although, our pitching strategy as of late is to sign starters who can go deep innings to minimize the use of the bullpen. Whatever works, I guess.
I still want to get out to Milwaukee to see a game. The schedule just never seems to work out.

Haha, I'll get right on that! No kidding, you guys have, what, four number 1's now?! I think we really need a coaching staff who will work with and develop our players AND those who we already have need to lose the head games! Parra, for example, needs to learn that it's not the end of the world if someone gets on base, geesh!
Well you know that if you ever get a schedule that works, you've always got a place to stay with us if you want!
It is really strange to think that we'll have an ace in the 4th spot. Phils fans my age still can't believe that people WANT to play here, because we were so bad for so long.
That is one thing that the Phils tend to do right; they try their hardest to keep young prospects and get the older guys that want to work with them.
Thanks for the offer! At the very least, you're going to the game with us
2012 Reading Challenge
I know quite a few Brewer fans (myself included) who will root for the Philies anytime - plus with the fact that Lee didn't go with NY I think a few thousand more just joined the club!
I can understand the disbelief though. The Brewers have had a lot of the power houses at bat, but the bull-pen just seems so weak that it results in so-so seasons. I feel like we're constantly in the re-building stages that it's like who would want to come here during the times that we're not doing so great. Oh well, everyone goes in streaks.
You bet! I'd bring the Milwaukee experience: tailgaiting, food, beer, etc. It's just not right without any of that
