Need help w/ Christmas gift

Okay, so Zig got an xbox 360 for black friday, but it was really his Christmas present...but I still want to get him some stuff for christmas that's not too expensive.

Here's what I have come up with so far:

1) 4 sweaters (BOGO price!) from Old Navy --- useful but not fun

2) Socks/undies --- he really needs some (also not fun)

3) Stocking stuffers: Chocolate orange and some more candies, some type of flashlight(he's really a flashlight wh*re...like really. he's obsessed), maybe a nice new kitchen knife (he loves to cook, so maybe one of those fancy ceramic ones to try).

4) Debating between NeedForSpeed:Hot Pursuit video game (which he specifically asked for) and a wireless meat thermometer which he's asked for before but didnt get.

IDK what else --- somebody give me some ideas. i dont feel like mine are very fun things to get for christmas...

  • Your list looks basically like what I got Chris. We didn't really put anything fun on our lists this year....just basic boring things. Chris is getting cologne, a pair of pants, a sweater and a book from me!

I wouldn't worry too much about it...Zig already got his fun gift!

  • This is what we do...maybe it could work for you guys.

Chris and I open our gifts to each other by ourselves, before we open with the family. This way it's our own private little time together. We usually keep one gift aside that the other will open in front of the whole family.

  • court - he doesnt like sports really, and hes not a big drinker (or at least not and adventurous one lol). but thank you!! he does want 1 game, so i think ill get that for him.

lauren - yeah, i think we'll do that too. ill give him most of what i got at home, but i wanted to give him a wicked good stocking at my moms house since she always makes one for us kids but never the hubbys! and i feel like i always get more gifts from the family b/c im so much easier to buy for than him lol. i just dont want him to feel weird or left out

  • Is you DH into tools and such?  I got my hubby a few inexpensive tools for his stocking.

  • lisa - yeah, he is. thats why i was thinking a nice flashlight would be fun. hes so hard to buy for b/c hes super picky about his kitchen and workshop stuff because hes at a professional level for both. and professional level tools/kitchen utensils are out of our budget lol. i might look at the hardware store for a few extra ideas :)

  • I ended up going with boxers, sweaters, and a new watch.  Then, because he really wanted the ski resort gift card...I ended up making him a "coupon" letting him know that as soon as I find out what my new work shcedule will be, we'll schedule to take the trip!

Today, I just came across these gloves that allow you to use your touch-screen phones or ipods without having to take off the gloves!  A lot are backordered...but I'm hoping to snag him a pair for a stocking stuffer.

For something fun...what about a subscription to Gamefly? It's like Netflix, but for video games.  Keep them and play them as long as you want...when you're ready, you can mail it back and they send you another game. I did this for my son last year and he loves it.
