Reflection on 2010 and hopes for 2011

I saw this on the local Knot board and I liked it.

What major things happened or have you accomplished in 2010?  What are your hopesplans for 2011?

Anniversary

Re: Reflection on 2010 and hopes for 2011

  • Highlights: Performed my brother's wedding ceremony in Mexico, started my own wedding officiant business that has taken off, planted my first garden, provided assistance to my neighbor who is living with with cancer, found full time employment, and continue to be head over heels in love with the Mr.

Lows: Lost my job in February (a blow to the ego, but a blessing), spent way too much money on unexpected house problems, my full time job is very challenging.  One of my best friends joined the Peace Corps and is gone for two years.  Crying

Hopes for 2011: My officiant business and garden will become bigger and better, do a little traveling, and remodel planned projects for my home.  Finally, still be head over heels in love with the Mr. (should be easy).

  • 2010: Went on several trips (Aruba, Arkansas, Vegas, Texas & Kansas), made it through first year of marriage, finished my certificate in HR Management, left my old job that I hated and am now working in a field I enjoy much more.  Overall a very good year.  The only low is that my grandma passed away in Aug, but she was almost 94 and had lived a long and fulfilling life.

Hopes for 2011: Continue to pursue my new career and support DH as he finishes his degree, take another vacation to a place we have never been, and maybe plan for babies in late 2011/early 2012??

  • 2010

Highlights: Jan enjoyed an amazing vacay in Puerto Rico.  Feb spent a wonderful weekend in CO snowboarding with friends.  This summer was our summer for amazing camping and backpacking trips.  Two of my best friends got pregnant and so did my brother-in-law and his wife.  This month DH and I are both graduating from our schools.  Him from SMU with his BS in Marketing, me from Inver Hills with my AA.  We also celebrate our 5 year anniversary at the end of this month and are taking the trip of a lifetime to Peru.  We also have gotten plugged into a fantastic church this last year and we have both grown so much.  Wowsa, looking back I'm realizing that 2010 has been quite a big year for us!

Lows:  We both are not the happiest with our jobs, but we are thankful to have them.

    2011:

I am uber excited to be an aunt again to my BF's little boy, and to BIL's child.  BF is due in April, BIL's wife is due in June.  Also excited to get my BA underway at Bethel and get that done and over with so we can have our own baby :-)  Also working on planning our first trip to Europe, because I always said I need to visit Europe first before we have a baby, so working on crossing that off the list :-)

  • Highlights - took a family vacation to Aspen and then camped for a week in the CO mountains.  Started a bridal consignment business with my fabulous SIL and got a call from the Knot about it (that was soo exciting).  Finally really got the swing of my PT job and earned a bonus almost every month this year.

Lows- DD's first year of kindergarten - I could not be more disappointed with her school, it's so, so bad.  I haven't figured out a way to have my home the way I'd like it AND juggle being a mom/PT job/small business.

2011 -  If I can continue building on the successes of 2010 that would be really amazing.  We had a good year :)

  • Highlights: I graduated from my Master's program, made 2 trips to visit my sister in Dubai, our first niece was born in October, we've been able to make more improvements on our home, took our 2nd annual Twins roadtrip with friends to to Kansas City this summer, lots of friends got married, and I got pregnant!

Lowlights: We've been lucky and haven't had many other than money struggles and my personal struggles with what I want to do with my life

Hopes/plans for 2011: getting to meet our (hopefully) healthy and happy little man in May:)

  • Jen, your business rocks. Congratulations to the both of you.

  • Highlights: H graduated from grad school, we were able to spend a lot of time at lake cabins with family and friends, and visit H's parents for an extended time. My husband has been my rock. He has kept me sane and grounded and helped me better realize that family and friends are all that matters.  We also have our health and with careful budgeting have been able to stay in our home and pay our bills.

Lowlights: Lost a young cousin tragically, spent most of 2010 unemployed and still am, my Grandpa had lots of medical problems and now him and my Grandma are in assisted living and had to leave their home. Our plans to start a family have been put off because of my lack of job.

Hopes for 2011: A job that at least has benefits and allows us to stay in our home so we can start a family. I would like to be pregnant in 2011, God willing. We would also like to go on one vacation together.  My ultimate wish is to find a job I love and that is fulfilling, but that might be a lot to ask at this time.

  • Highlights: I graduated with my Master's in May, bought a new car, finished my entire wedding scrapbook before our first anniversary, had a wonderful first year of marriage and an even stronger start to our 2nd, lost 16 pounds (with hopes to reach that 20 mark by Christmas!)

lowlights: not taking any vacations!...finding out I have PCOS and that was causing our difficulties in getting pregnant

Hopes for 2011: I hope that 2011 brings us into the world of parenthood, but at the very least, I would like our lives to continue much the same as happened in 2010..I really can't complain!

  • Highs: still surviving grad school: loving my internship and supervisor, DH opened a new business on Friday, got a new neice

Lows: money stress with DH opening business and me in school

Hopes for 2011: complete 1st draft of dissertation by May, DH's businesses thrive, and make a baby (we've been working on this one for some time now, so maybe 2011 is the year), and buy our first home

  • Lows: step-grandmother, Grandfather, and pseudo-grandmother died. Step-Uncle died. Dad died. BFF's dad died. My job for the last school year sucked. Not being employed full-time at the beginning of the school year.

Highs: Getting a temp-turned-into full-time position in an awesome school district. Lived in a house all year. Deleted my facebook. DH turns 30 on Friday.

2011: Really, I'm running out of family members so 2011 HAS to be better than 2010, right? Right? I'm hoping that fall 2011 will see me employed by the same district again. And nobody dies. Please. Nobody die in 2011.

  • 2010:

Highlights- Spent a lot of time making the new house ours.  Figured out that subletting an apartment to a high maintenance girl is harder work and more stressful than we had ever imagined it would be.  We will never be landlords, that's for sure! Getting a teaching job at my dream school (even though it started out as .67 FTE, and moved up to full time after a month of being there due to federal Title funding).

Lows- Grandfather-in-law passed away unexpectedly on my Mother-in-law's birthday.

    2011:

I hope to keep my job for the next school year (even if it drops back down to .67 FTE)!  I'm also hoping that H finally agrees to let me get a dog.
We want to make sure to see more friends and family who live out of state (going to CO in March!), and take more time to relax up at the cabin.
