I attempted to document it photo-blog-style. Although, I probably should have taken a picture of the dough in my stand mixer, as the batter filled the bowl! What a mammoth chipwich it made! About 10 inches across, and 4 to 5 inches high, when all was said and done.

I did trim up the cookies (skipped the photos on that step). They really spread out, and one of them had "flattened" along the edge of my cookie sheet. So, now I have some cookie pieces to munch on this week!
Here's the link for those who want to see it full-sized! http://i52.tinypic.com/f3u82t.jpg
I'm glad I didn't go 100% with the recipe, as one full gallon of ice cream would have been way too much. As it was, the 1.5 batch of Tollhouse cookies was a bit too much for our small group. Next time (if there is a next time), I'll only make up one normal-sized batch of the cookies, and divide the batter evenly and cook in my springform pans so as to avoid having to trim up the cookies to make them fit on my cake plate!
Figuring out how to get my two biggest pans into my fridge (so that the fats in the cookies could solidify a bit pre-assembly) was interesting. In the end, I opted to stack them, using four of my spice jars as dividers!
Overall, it was an absolutely delicious "cake" and everyone loved it. There is a single piece that was left over, so it's in the freezer just waiting for another night's sweet-craving ![]()

Re: Operation Giant Chipwich "Cake" a SUCCESS! (pip)
What a great idea Alicia! It looks fantastic. And I was literally just saying that next year I am making/buying an ice cream cake for Christian b/c that's all he really likes anyway!
Great job! Maybe I'll hire you :-)
