Anyone have a humidifier?
We have this humidifier. It's loud & the air that blows out is so cold we can't stand to be in the same room. And now it's leaking-grr! Does anyone have a humidifier they like? Maybe a big console type unit? We don't really want to use a heater mounted model but we need something to combat the dry winter air. We have a little one room model for the bedroom at night but we still need to run one in the living room all day long.

We have an Aprilaire unit on our furnace. It actually just broke about 2 weeks ago and we were being cheap and just said ehh we won't worry about fixing it, it's not a necessity. Since then DH and I have both went out and bought new chap stick because our lips are so chapped, I have woke up with a sore throat most mornings and DH has had horrible nose bleeds twice. SO... needless to say I am going to have that fixed very soon.
I know I didn't answer your question, but I just wanted to say that the heater mounted unit that we have really works!
My parents & a few friends who have them seem to think they really don't do that much. I'm starting to wonder if they just don't know how truly dry a house can get with no humidifier. If we don't run ours our fingers crack & split, we get bloody noses, we shock each other, and the dogs give off sparks when they walk on the carpet (yup, real, visible sparks!). Our dogs don't snap, crackle, & pop at my parents house so I think their unit is doing a little more than they realize. My parents' unit has scale all over it so I'm sure it's not working at 100% if they're not cleaning it.
