I love the look of white linens and about two months ago I bought a white duvet set, which I LOVE. However, I have washed it about 3-4 times and it is starting to look somewhat dingy. The label says not to bleach it and I wash it according to the care label, is there anything I can do to brighten it up a bit? I also have the same problem with white sheets... is it just me?
Re: Keeping linens white??
Ditto
In addition to using oxyclean which has oxygen bleach, you can also use a bluing agent. Bluing agents help to give the illusion of a whiter appearance.
This is one I've used:

It could be your water, some minerals just make stuff dingy.
You're just washing all whites, right? Nothing else thrown in there?
I agree with the pp's, I'd try the oxy first.
If the sheets/duvet are 100% cotton, you could try bleach. But it there is any polyester or other manmade fibers, then do not bleach. Polyester is dyed white, its natural color is yellowish and bleach will make it yellow forever.
