Why are people so lazy?

I actually had a pretty good group of students this semester, but I had one that made to class on time maybe five times the entire semester, turned in the major project (that they had six weeks to work on) four weeks late, and did sub par work on every level. She's the only one that failed the class.

Of course, she is now emailing me wanting me to fill out a change grade paper and track myself all over the University to do so to allow her to drop the class NOW. Otherwise, she's going to lose her scholarship.

Maybe you should have thought of that before you put zero effort into my class. Not. My. Problem.

I have a friend who teaches biology at a community college. A student emailed her last week and flat-out asked for a different grade. Like, she earned one grade but wanted my friend to just give her a better one. The End.

Totally not your problem. I did that to myself sophomore year with an organic chemistry class that I totally checked out of when I decided I no longer wanted to go to med school. I didn't drop it at that point like I should have, I had to just eat the C minus I barely managed thanks mostly to the curve, and suffered the consequences (lost a scholarship). I would never have dreamed of asking a professor to change the grade or go out of the way to help me do something I should have done myself weeks before.
