Did any of you have to sign up for daycare waitlists before you were super actively discussing TTC? I'm in that boat right now. The daycare at work is known to be very good, is super convenient and is $500-800 a month less than what we would pay for comporable care elsewhere. The waitlist is always long but apparently it's backlogged even more. It's taking people 2.5-3 years to get off the list. Our little-talked about plan is to start TTC winter of 2012 and I would take a six month maternity leave. This means the earliest we will need daycare is spring 2013 - under 2.5 years away.
I think it's time for us to sign up for the waitlist but I'm worried MH will panic a bit that I want to move things up while he's still in school and will have a hard time understanding why we should do this. I figure I have the convenience, monitoring, and cost savings arguments handy but what else can I say to convince him? Anyone else been in this situation?
Re: how to convince MH it is time for the daycare waitlist
This may sound terrible, but I would just do it. I'd sign us up and not even tell DH. Then when the time comes and he panics you can say, already done
But that is just me.
I was going to say this too!
I have thought about it! MH's a procrastinator and I am not. I'd like to have his agreement in this but I'm worried he just won't take it seriously!
This!
Ditto! Unless you are going to loss a hefty deposit I'd just go ahead and sign up.
