We got our pups when they were both around 8 weeks old (different litters, different types of dogs). I lost my Chanci in August of last year. Her dog Chipper has been progressively getting sicker. She just called me to find out what to do--he'd had a seizure. As she was talking to me, he had another--I could hear his breathing--so labored.
I told her to call her vet, and her neighbor (so she could come over and sit at the house with the kids IF they have to go to the emergency vet). Having been down that road, it just sounds all too familiar. I just pray he stop seizing until the morning.
I wish I was close so I could help. I told her to call my cell no matter what time if she needs me, but it's just not the same.
Please send healthy doggy prayers/vibes/thoughts if you can.
Re: NER: I think my BFF is going to lose her dog tonight.
***good doggy vibes***
Very sad.
?I hope he recovers.?
That's so sad.
Unrelated note: how's Marisa feeling?

She just called me. They had to put him down. I can't stop crying.
She told him Chanci would be there to greet him. I just hate this.

I'm so, so sorry. I know you've probably seen it, but the best poem about pets follows. I'll space it out if you don't want to read it:

The Rainbow Bridge
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over? together.
