Would this be weird?-Desk Lamp

So I seem to be getting these strange (mild) headaches by the end of each day.  I was thinking it was because my office is really bright and I have no natural sunlight (I have an interior office), plus I'm staring at a monitor all day (mostly Excel sheets).  I'm sure it doesn't help that my office walls are yellow, too.

Would it be weird to get a desk lamp and have that be my only light?  I thought bringing one from home and working by lamp light for a week to see if it helps.  What do you think?

  • There are a few people in my office who do that.  I don't think it's weird.
  • Have you thought about getting one of those screens that you can put across your monitor that decreases the strength of light coming from the monitor?

  • Do you drink enough water?  Mild headaches could be a sign of dehydration.  Are you eating balance meals regularly?  It could be a sign of a drop in blood sugar and you might just try eating a healthy snack.

You might even try drinking tea for a little caffeine too.

As to the lamp, I don't think it's weird.  I haven't seen them used, but if it could give you headache relief I'd give it a shot.

I have but they're kind of expensive.  I figured a $20 lamp would be a cheaper option right now.

I drink plenty of water (64 oz plus some tea through out the day) and eat fine I think.  Today my diet consisted of: cereal with milk, yogurt for snack, broccoli cheese soup, and an apple.

  • I have a floor lamp in my office at school because I can't tolerate the overhead fluoresents.  I basically was becoming allergic to the lights in my office.  I would be okay Mon & Tues, the Wed feel a bit weird, and by Thursday I was having migraine type headaches like clockwork.  I talked to the principal & since she has problems with them too, she approved the lamp purchase.  Idea  It has made a huge difference for me.  I happened to only be able to find a pink dorm-type lamp at BBB, but people stop by all the time saying how much they love the soothing warm glow of my lamp!
  • To me it seems like it would make your work space a little too dark, and cause more eye strain as a result...but you have to do what works for you. Can't hurt to try, right?

  • Get an Ott lamp! They put off "natural" looking light rather than light-bulb light.
