Re: ups, mailman, etc..
When we lived in Boston and Mike was buying stuff for work and school we literally saw our UPS person every other day for almost 5 months, just happened to be around the holidays so we wanted to show our appreciation as well. We ended up buying a box of chocolates from Godiva and giving that and a funny christmas card. I think if you want to its perfectly ok to give something small, the thought goes a long way especially at this time of the year but at the same time I think not getting them something is totally fine as well.
Double check if you do decide to give something because I think I read somewhere that they arent allowed to accept money or money over a certain amount.
It's funny that you say that. We have a theory on our street. The garbage men are terrible to the houses that don't leave them a gift at Christmas time. They leave my barrels in the street, blocking our driveway, sometimes they even throw the barrels up against our house, but yet they put everything back nice and neat next door. They tip every year, we don't. And others have confirmed up and down the street that this theory is true.
I do believe that these people are already paid (and not tip wages, regular salary) to do their job so there isn't much of a need to tip them. That's my beef with the DD clerks with tip cups out. BUT...if I'm going to tip someone like that at the holidays it would be my mail carrier or a delivery person who goes above and beyond.
Exactly!!! Like if you UPS guy brings in your packages and puts them on a shelf for you or in the back room every.single.time then do it but if not....
