I hate when my H works like this

Yesterday my H went to work at 7 AM. He came home at 4 PM because his bosses told him they wanted him to come back to work later that night. So he left again for work last night at 8 PM and he still isn't home.

He texted me a few hours ago but it's hard for me to get ahold of him since he is out working in the brush and there aren't any cell phone signals. Ugh. I hate when he works long hours like this. In the last 30 hours he has worked 26 :(

Re: I hate when my H works like this

  • That sucks, Dh's job does that more during the summer then now when work picks up but it always makes me nervous because they never account for the fact he has to be alert behind the wheel in order to drive home. Did they atleast offer to put him up in a hotel to get a few hours of sleep?
  • That would drive me nuts too! My H had to travel for his job a few times and I would go crazy and I could get a hold of him. (and it was not dangerous) Hopefully he will be home soon!
  • I don't blame you. Those hours stink and the fact that he is unreachable only makes it worse.
  • I feel your pain. DH is in TX right now and only has cell signal while in a tree stand, so I get maybe 5 texts from him through out the day! It really stinks not being able to get a hold of him.

No, they won't let him stay in a hotel.  Honestly, I wouldn't want to stay in any hotels where he is at!  They are GHETTO.

I know they caught a big group last night.  So, they will have to head back up to town (where our house is) in order to drop the illegal aliens off at the jail.  Plus, he has got to take his work truck back to the BP Station, they are not take home rides.  So, if he makes it back to the BP Station he will only be 5 miles from our house.

But it's hard to believe that the Federal Government will allow him to drive a Government issued car after working that many hours :

I had a feeling you'd ask this. I have no clue. I know it was a 5 hour drive from the airport?

Ha, what else is he going to do up there. Stick out tongue

  • I'm sorry, Kathy.  I can't begin to imagine how stressful it is having a husband in law enforcement and with such unpredictable hours.  I hope he gets home soon!
  • He got home about an hour ago and is now sleeping.  He has to be up in a few hours to go back to work tonight at 8 PM.

:(  He typically doesn't work nights.  But the night crew is having a hard time keeping up with all the groups coming through so they pulled him from his normal duties this week so he can help out.  Fingers crossed that next week he can go back to his normal 7 AM to 5 PM schedule.
