Any Wii users...

Jay and I decided to get a joint gift for each other.  I think we are going to get a Wii so I can get the WiiFit.  I have never played videogames and know nothing about them.  But, I think I would enjoy the WiiFit. Has anyone here used it?  Do you like it?  Does it really give you a workout?  Thanks!!!

Re: Any Wii users...

  • Haven't used it but the wii is fun. Very user friendly, just make sure your hubby gets some fun 2 player games!
  • I've never played Wii fit, but I'd like to try it. I would love to play the Wii Zumba game (I'm too chicken to go to an actual class, and no one could laugh if I did it at home lol), but I would have to get a Wii first.

  • I have the WiiFit and I enjoy it. I mainly use it during the winter so I dont have to go outside and work out. There are also alot of games that you can use the WiiFit.

  • We don't have a gaming system, but we want one and have been looking into it. We wanted a wii for a few years now, but since we've actually started looking into it, the Xbox 360 seems to be the system that most gamers prefer. Now that they have come out with the kinect, the reviews are that it's way better.

Also, wii fit kind of sucks. It is fun to play with once or twice but once the novelty wears off the workouts actually kind of suck. EA active is way better. (It's a wii game, I'm not TOTALLY dissuading you if that's the route you take).

  • I only use it during the winter. It just makes me feel like I am doing something other than sitting around all winter. As soon as the weather gets nice again I am right back outside running and whatnot.

  • We have a Wii but I have EA Sports Active. image
I've never tried WiiFit but I actually enjoyed the workouts with EA Sports. I felt like I was getting a workout each time, but not enough to do as my only exercise.

As an FYI, I'm the kind of person who considers a successful workout to be playing basketball for a couple of hours with some guys, running up & down the floor the entire time.

Yes! This is the game I was talking about.

  • It sounds silly but the hula hooping game on wii fit will really work out your waist. But I would say its all more FUN than a true "workout". We actually really enjoy the balancing games and the boxing (if you really get into it) haso made my arms sore before.

  • Matt's parents (who are older than mine....in their early 60's) have a Wii (and Wii Fit) and really love it.  His step-dad lost a LOT of weight from it.  I messed around with it one time and it was fun! They also bought one for Matt's grandma and she likes it too, hahahaha! I considered asking for one, but then they came out with this Kinect thing on xbox.  We have xbox 360 (for DH - I've never played anything on it) so once more games come out for it, we may buy one of those or ask for one for our bdays or something.  We played with it at Best Buy 2 nights ago actually and it was cool, but they certainly don't have a lot of games yet.

  • I've tried most of the wii exercise games. Wii fit is good it just didn't give me the best workout. Jillian's is a good workout, EA sports is a good workout and I just got Zumba-Amazing workout and fun.

  • The Wii fit is really fun at first because the more exercises you do and the better you do them the more exercises and levels you unlock.  The first several times I used mine I spend a good 2-3 hours at a time on it because I wanted to unlock stuff.  I was getting a good workout because I was going it for hours.  Once I had unlocked most everything it wasn't that fun for me anymore and the workout I get in an hour on the Wii fit is no where near as good as what I get in an hour at the gym.  However I would recommend it if you're not a gym person because at least it's some sort of workout.

  • Oh and if you do get a Wii get the Hasbro Family Game Night games.
