What I've Been Up To Lately...

I know I never come on here anymore... which sucks because I like you all!

In case you are curious for whatever reason... I have been SO BUSY for the past few months...

I've decided to actively persue my photography career.  I have an office job at an interior design office now, but since I am done with school, it's time to move on...  I feel my soul being sucked away by my "normal" job, and it's time for a change.  I've been doing special events photography (proms, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, etc.) for the past 5ish years, but it was contracted by another company on an as-needed basis, maybe once a month or so.  I've decided to take the reigns and control my own work, get my own bookings, ahandle my own payments, etc.  It's been a lot of work.  I don't expect to be a full-time photographer any time soon.  I understand it takes years of blood and sweat.  I'm just starting to formulate a business plan, work on my goals, etc.  I've been offering free engagement sessions, and I've done a handful of them since making the decision in November.  I am hoping to start charing for these at the start of the year, and hopefully the business continues to come in!  I've booked my first paid wedding for 2011 for April!  Yippee!! It's my goal to consistantly have enough weddings/other shoots scheduled to quit my job and find some kind of "fun" part time job or substitute teach on the side.  It'll be a while before I get there, but hopefully not too long :)   If you'd like to follow my photography stuff, you can visit www.facebook.com/ilianamortonphotography and also www.ilianamortonphotography.wordpress.com

We got a puppy about a month and a half ago.  He was such a sweetie when we brought him home.  So friendly and not a peep out of him!  All of a sudden last week he started having an issue... leash agression!  I've never had a dog do this before!  He just randomly tries to jump on people and eat their faces off!  And he does it to other dogs too.  I don't get it!  When he's off his leash at a park or in our apartment he is perfectly fine with other dogs and people.  It's only when it's on his leash, and it's unpredictable when he does it.  We adopted him from the Humane Society and he just turned 1 a few weeks ago.  We don't know much about his past.  We think he had some obedience training because he does the basic sit, stay, etc. commands.  I'm enrolling him in doggy school in January to see if a refresher will help his leash agression.  But does anyone have any tips?  We live in a downtown area, so there are lots of people and dogs around all the time, this can't continue!

Both Brian (husband) & I have been so busy.  I work my normal job, then come home and work on my photography edits/website/whatever.  On the weekends I usually have one or two photo shoots.  He has been working on a really huge project with The VIllage Voice (he's a web programer), and his company's software is suppsoed to be in 17 of Village Voice's markets by the first of the year.  So he's been super busy working really long hours, working at home, etc.  We're both exhausted.  We are really hoping that we can take a vacation very early next year.  We need it.

How are you guys?  Any new pregnancies?  Trips?  New homes?  Good things?

Re: What I've Been Up To Lately...

  • Dang girl, you've been hella busy! Post pics of the pup!

I really hope things go well with your photography business, and you get to enjoy doing what you want to do.

Nothing exciting here. Def no pregnant, lol. No trips for us.

H did put a new book shelf in our "office" so we're taking up less space but still two rooms and a bathroom for us is just not working.

We're both working like crazy, I'm schedule every day from now until Xmas except one day. :(

H got commissioned (Marine Corps) so that's been our excitment.

    Glad to hear from you!
