I just learned about this cool organization, Kiva, today from a friend of mine and wanted to share if you hadn't already heard of it. Basically individuals and groups from around the world with small businesses partner with community organizations to get small business loans. People like you and I actually fund the loans and then you are reimbursed. Then you can either roll over your repayment into another loan or get it back through paypal. I love things like this that promote sustainability and just thought it was a very smart concept. I made a small loan to a 65 year old woman with a growing cheese business. My friend has loaned an initial $75 over the last year, but just keeps rolling it over to amount to $250 in loans. I never feel like I can give as much as I want to, but this is a nice way to help out and keep helping out without huge expense. www.kiva.org

Re: Kiva
what a great idea!
Altanta's Groupon site currently has $25 towards Kiva for only $15. Here is an easy link to it: http://t.co/OV44eR
I've been stalking Groupon lately and tracking the nonprofits that they are featuring. I bought $100 towards DonorsChoose.org for only $40 a couple weeks ago (put it towards my own classroom. LOL!). Definitely something worth watching.
That's so smart, Susie; I never thought to look at other cities!
ETA: So how are you finding these nonprofit deals? Going through each city? I'm new to groupon, so I don't see how you would search.
I've had three grants filled (partially by me, to be honest). It's so exciting to get those emails!
