I live about an hour and a half away from the city I was born and raised in, where my parents still live. We are close enough where I live now that we get major news stories from back home on our news here. I was watching something on CBS this morning and the news broke in. The mayor of the city (whose been mayor for 3 terms I think) died this morning. They are pretty sure it was a suicide. Apparently he had court this morning (he was in charge of the estate of a relative) and didn't show up. Nobody could get ahold of him, and he was going to be cited for contempt. Around the same time, police were called to his house because a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot. They have only confirmed he is dead from a gunshot, but it all sounds like a suicide.
I feel so bad for his wife and family, especially being so close to the holidays. 
Poor guy.

Very sad news. My heart breaks for his family, and the difficult road they have ahead. I can't imagine how incredibly devastating this is for them.
Your not far from me. I live a little over an hour from Springfild too.
That was all over the news here too. Are you guys south or north of Springfield? I grew up about 2 (and a little more) hours south of Springfield and my cousins live about 45 mins north. Now, I live in St. Louis. It is sad, especially with the holidays so close. Thoughts and praerys to hsi family.
