Why am I at work?

The weather here is crazy! It started snowing again last night and we're under a winter weather warning until 7:00pm tonight. You can't see the lines on any of the roads, not even on the interstate. I had to judge where I was the whole time and just keep the wheels straight. HH called me after he left and started to tell me not to go to work today because the roads are so bad. I went ahead and came since I have 4 wheel drive though.

The roads are horrible! Let us go home! My boss just said the other day he would never close our office because of the weather so it looks like I'm stuck here...

Re: Why am I at work?

  • Yeah I told Adam not to go to work, because the snow has turned to sleet and is making the roads worse.  Luckily I don't have to go in today, and I wish Adam wouldn't go either. :(

Be safe getting home, and I hope it's early!!

  • You should have stayed home. Hopefully your boss sends everyone home early. I hate coming into work when the weather is horrible. Our office never closes either for bad weather.

    Drive Safe when you leave.

  • I worked very hard yesterday to get all of my work done for today in case it got bad. So it got bad, and I'm 'working from home' today. I haven't heard anything about our office being closed but I can't get a hold of anyone at the office :-

Hopefully your boss will let you leave soon! Be safe going home Katy!

  • Fingers crossed I can leave early!!!

According to my boss closing the office early due to bad weather (no matter how bad) is a sign of weakness. I might get to leave an hour early if I'm lucky.

WOW he needs to get over himself, if he wants to risk his life getting to work fine, but you shouldn't have to.  I can't stand people like that! what a    d!ck.

Sorry for my harshness! hahahaha we have the ability to work from home if we need to, so when the snow arrives big here in NY, that is what i will be doing if the roads are not safe.

  • Haha its ok Chris! I'm pretty ticked off that I have to be here, and especially that HH is out driving in this crappy weather.

I wish I had the ability to work from home, but I don't. If I did I definitely wouldn't have left the house.

  • I would just tell your boss, "Hey, the roads are too dangerous.  I'm going to take off early because I don't want to die on my way home from work."  I've done this at other places I've worked where they wouldn't let us leave early

I'm very seriously thinking about it. Its snowed about an inch or more since I got to work this morning.

    Your boss is a dumbas$$

  • Be careful!!

I can sympathize. The weather is fine here today, but we pretty much never get snow days or early dismissals. (We did get a snow day last year when we got that awful, awful storm.) Even when they cancel classes, the campus is usually still open, so the non-faculty employees (like me) have to stay and/or come in to work as usual. We grumble a lot about what that says about our relative worth as people in the eyes of the administration. Sad
