So we're in the process of getting out of a bad rental situation and moving into a nicer place, more room, etc...and we did a buy out on our rental contract. When we did this we had to pay the buy out fees up front at the time of notice...because of this a co-worker at my office fronted us some money until I closed my two RE transactions at the end of the month to pay these fees. We fully intend on paying the co-worker back as soon as my closings happen and I get my pay out. Co-worker is completely fine with this and told us not to worry about it etc.
I would like to get them a little something in appreciation for what they've done for me. I've never once worked in an environment where people have gone to bat for me and helped me in the way that they have here. My mom once worked for a gentleman who gave her the money for her downpayment on her house, and attorney's fees when she filed for divorce...so I'd heard stories that there were employers out there that did this but never actually seen it until now...
Do you think a nice thank you card and a bottle of wine or something would be good? I've thanked them verbally about a million times but I just feel like perhaps I should get them something a little extra to really say thank you.
And FWIW, our rental situation continues to go from bad to worse...I am so fortunate that we've found a permanent place to raise our boys...where don't have to worry about the upstairs neighbor flooding our bathroom, clogging our kitchen sink with their nasty Thanksgiving leftovers in the disposal, and water main breaks...
Any ideas ladies???
