Hi ladies - I need some N.C. help!
I'm from Texas but one of the girls on my anniversary board told me to come over here to ask this question. So, here it goes!
My BFF and college roomie just accepted a job in Winston Salem that
starts January 26. We are hoping I can go with her while I'm on
vacation to look for a place to live etc.
So, if anyone has any advice or direction, that would be great!
We don't have any idea where to start!

Re: Hi ladies - I need some N.C. help!
congra! for the new job.
Winston Salem is a nice place to live and rise a family! but if you like big cities, then this place is not for u.
wake forest university is here, you should go have a tour, nice campus.
old salem is historic district just outside of downtown, also a nice place to visit, but it's kind cold for Jan.
Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh are not far from it if u like go there.
also, Biltmore estate is in Asheville if u havent gone, you should go, it's a beautiful place tour the house, wine testing, horse riding, etc.
overall, I wish u enjoy stay here.
for living, I will say living near by Hanes Mall, so u are not far from highway 40, 158, 421.
Thank you so much! I'm not sure we'll have much time for sightseeing but since you mentioned wine tasting....we might have to fit it in!
She is excited but she is single and moving by herself to a place she knows no one. She will be fine but I sure will miss her!

of course, we moved here about 3years ago, we know how that is going to be for her.
people down here are very friendly, I am sure she is going to fit in.
if she need some help, just let me know, I will try my best.
My advice would be to rent something for a little while until she gets to know the area better. I live in the Triad, but I do not know much about the Winston-Salem market, sorry.
I moved to Winston when I was in high school, left for a few years in college and came back in my mid twenties. I really like Winston-Salem. I don't know where she is moving from but Winston has a lot to offer. The downtown area is really blossoming and has lots of neat places to eat and stop in for a drink. They also have a movie theater on 4th street. I also think compared to places like Raleigh and Charlotte, that the cost of living in Winston is very reasonable. There are also a good mix of new homes and historical homes as well, depending on her preference. Here are two blogs that I use to find out about local events. Good luck!
