XP: Need carryout catering suggestions

I'm hosting my family for Christmas Eve and I'm looking for some easy catering ideas where I pick it up and bring it home. I'm not opposed to doing some cooking; I just don't want to do it all. I have many ideas but let's pretend I have none so as not to stifle the brainstorming.

Could be apps, meat, dips, any cuisine, location, etc. The only limitation is that I prefer it not be sandwiches.

Needs to serve about 8 adults and 5 kids.

  • Buca di Beppo. Since it's a family-style restaurant, the portions are already set up catering-style. I'd say 3 large dishes, a salad and maybe a tiramisu for dessertl, you'd be golden.
  • I know that around Thanksgiving Meijer/Kroger always have where you can buy a full holiday meal with all the trimmings. I am not sure if they also do that at Christmas, though. It might be worth it to check it out?

I'll also add that if you register on their website, you get emailed a coupon for $10 off $20 or a free appetizer. At least they did that when I signed up.

  • Montgomery Inn does catering. Goooood stuff.

  • I say City BBQ or Montgomery Inn.  We have used both for company parties and they did an excellent job.  If you are looking for something more fun, check out Funky's catering.

  • I'm a little late but I do love Maggiano's food.  Bravo also has family pans you can pick up and it's actually quite cheap (we use them to cater work lunches)...and bonus points for being nearby.

I also love Funky's catering.  We use them a lot for work functions too and I've never had anything bad.
