what are you cooking on Christmas/Christmas Eve?

We're hosting my family for Christmas this year, which we've never done. I'm trying to plan what to cook for dinner those evenings- what are you all making?

Re: what are you cooking on Christmas/Christmas Eve?

  • I'm not hosting either, my my family always on Christmas Eve goes to Mass and then my IL's and my parents join us and my siblings at either my 'rents or il's house (our hosue isnt' big enough) and we have lots of different heavy appetizers! its fun to just hang out and have a variety!

  • Cooking dinner this year - at least I plan on it.  But all in all we are going to be fixing a few things.  For my IL's GTG we are having pinwheels, sausage balls and Buffalo chicken dip.  I am going to make some peppermint bark, a pumpkin spice cake and broccoli salad for work.  For home - turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed taters, turnips - thats my dinner so far.  I am sure I will add something else to the mix.

  • We always do appetizers on Christmas Eve. This year my mom is making chili cheese dip, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Meatballs, Veggie & Dip etc. I think we're having ham on Christmas Day but sometimes we have baked ziti.

  • Christmas Eve - Vegetarian lasagna, salad & bread

Christmas - Roast beef, au gratin cauliflower, baked potatoes, green beens w/ almonds, and apple sauce

Dessert for both - LOTS & LOTS of cookies!!

  • For Christmas Eve, I'm making mac and cheese and chocolate cake. For Christmas Day, I'm making russian tea and a fruit salad.
