Poll: Christmas/Holiday Cards
Having just finished... I gotta ask.

Re: Poll: Christmas/Holiday Cards
I still have to do mine. Maybe 30 or so.
I hate sending cards. My 5th circle of hell is eternity writing and addressing cards.
I'm personally annoyed by the expense. Just one more thing to add to the Christmas budget...
I didn't do a Christmas Newsletter (-don't flame, I like them) because I couldn't justify the cost of printing the number of color copies I would need.
I do Christmas cards. We send about 100 cards. I used to send a personal note with the card. Now with SS and two dogs, I don't have time for the notes. I did the addressing in shifts. I don't do a Christmas newsletter.
SS loves to read the Christmas cards when they arrive in the mail. He loves that he is included in the messages.
I personally find Cmas/Holiday cards to be a waste of time and money. While I'm at it, I find wrapping paper to be wasteful, as well. This year I wrapped almost all my gifts in brown paper packing material or in reusable bags.
An American Girl's Travels
That's what we did this year too. I figure now that it's me, H and SD (compared to countless years of just me once I left my parents' nest), picture cards would be fun. Plus I hate writing them out too.
I only sent to family though, since H and I both have ginormous families. Friends will get e cards.
When it was just me, I'd send about 20 to friends/family. Since I got w/ DH, it's up to at least 40, since he's got lots of friends who like to send out pics of their kids any chance they get. So we feel obligated to send cards. This year I got lazy, picked up 2 of the cheapest boxes from Hallmark and just signed them Him and Me Lastname. I only wrote personal notes in about 3-4 of them and addressed them all in one night. Those return address labels from those charities come in really handy! Threw them in the mail yesterday.
However - my DH had to go out to Hallmark last night to.. get this... buy INDIVIDUAL cards for each of his family members. To GO ALONG W/ EACH PRESENT! It's l

To his credit, he tried giving them all the same card one year - did not go well. He also tried NOT doing the individual card thing too - went over like a lead balloon. He hates that 'tradition' as much as I do!
We did them last year and it was so expensive... and I decided that people didn't need a picture of my DH & I on their fridge
I am doing some thank you cards w/ a picture from Snapfish (I always hand-write them but due to the meds Im on, I have a lot of trouble writing now/it's illegible.)
I think when DH & I have kids, I will start sending cards again...
