Re: Another Funny and Poll

  • i got a liquor decanter from my in-laws, even though they know I've never drank alcohol my whole life.

  • My dad's side used to do a Christmas drawing so you only bought for one person.  The last year we did it, my Aunt had me.  After telling my husband and I about how they were finally cleaning out all the stuff from their wedding that they'd never used and donated it all, I got a re-gifted candle scape - complete with a gift reciept that they clearly didn't know was there from their wedding 4 years earlier.  I was pissed.  a) I don't really do candlescapes so it isn't like it was a good re-gift b) I went and shopped for your child and you clearly shopped your closet c) if you're going to regift, the tags had better be off and you had better look to make sure all the incriminating evidence is gone and d) thanks for basically telling me that I am a charity case.  Nice.

I threw it in my attic where it remained until this spring when I did actually donate it.

  • I don't have anything worthy to add, but that list was hilarious. How do you open half of those with a straight face??
  • A couple years ago my aunt regifted me scrapbooking stuff.  Yes, I like to scrapbook, but it was REALLY obvious she just went through her stuff to see what she could give me.  It was a very random assortment of a Christmas scrapbook album from Walmart (still had the $4.99 price tag on it), some Christmas stickers, and then several loose sheets of summer-themed paper and stickers.  I can't even imagine what the expression on my face must have looked like Embarrassed
  • My mom got me tiny, glittery, plastic snowman salt and pepper shakers. I mean, I like snowmen and all, but put in a little more effort! I don't even use salt! I was so upset that I threw them out later... Which of course I now feel guilty about. :P

After 22 cycles and 4 failed IUIs, Serafina joined our family through IVF/ICSI, born 8.28.12
Surprise! The Sequel is due 12.8.14!

  • These weren't Christmas gifts, but the ILs kept giving us Jesus-centric dollar store tchotkes during my pregnancy for display in Liam's room such as an angel holding a baby (really ugly/plastic made to look like wood), creepy hands holding flowers and a baby, and a full on Jesus statue. I know they are really religious and their hearts are in the right place, but they never take into consideration what Juan and I would want (this continues with pretty much everything they have purchased for Liam - stuff we would never use/already have/don't need/or that is completely age inappropriate). They are on his bookshelf for now, behind some other things, but will find their way into the donation pile when we move next!
