Some of the Christmas presents I have made. Nothing as spectacular as Bethie's scarf, but cute nonetheless.
I don't know how to PIP multiple pictures in a row, so bear with me.

The squid hat is baby size (OK sized for a baby with a big head), but I really want to scale it up and make an adult sized one.

The felt letters may have been a pain but they look super awesome. Do you have a pattern? I think Dr. Pants would love a similar one for the Twins.
This is long-winded.
I just made up a half assed pattern for the coozies and never wrote it down. I can give you general instructions, though.
I use 2 strands of a 100% wool worsted weight yarn (Patons or Lion Brand mostly). Make sure it doesn't say "superwash" or "machine washable" because you will be very disappointed in the results (I speak from experience). I have also used Cascade 200 but I think it is not as thick as patons, etc, so I usually use more stitches.
I make 2 different sizes of coozies - one for skinny bottles (post felting finished dimensions 7.5 inches in diameter, 4 inches tall) and one for fat bottles and cans (post felting finished dimensions 8 inches diameter, 3.5 inches tall). I just guestimated the pre-felting size based on the fact that things shrink about 15% when felted. My first attempt at making a coozie, I didn't do any measuring and am now the proud owner of a coozie for my nalgene bottle.
I use size 13 double points and knit in the round. For the skinny bottles, I usually cast on 25 sts, purl the first row. I knit the second row, and increase to 28 sts (the top flares out a lot when you felt which is why I start with less sts). Knit to the desired length (I usually eyeball it, but I would guess the total length is 5 inches). Purl one row then decrease.
For fat bottles and cans, I start with 28 sts, purl one row, knit the next row and increase to 30 sts. Knit to about 4-4.5 inches, purl one row then decrease.
When weaving in the ends, I try to reinforce the top of the coozie so it doesn't flare out as much when felting.
To felt: wash in hot water (cold water rinse). The more aggitation the better, so don't wash on delicate. You can add some other stuff to the washing machine because that increases the agitation (I put in towels and stuff). It takes a while for stuff to felt all the way, so I put it on the longest cycle possible and keep running down into the basement to re-set the cycle before the hot water drains out. I would guess it takes about 20 minutes in the hot water wash to felt.
When things are about the right size, let the water drain and let it go through the cold water rinse and spin. It's OK if they end up a little smaller than you intend because you can still stretch things when they are wet. I usually shape them using a beer bottle and a beer can. I put heavy canned goods on top of the beer can (that has a coozie around it) so that the bottom of the coozie will be flat.
This now concludes my beer coozie felting tutorial.

I should add that felting is not an exact science. No two beer coozies are identical. You can felt with yarn that is only 50% wool, too, but it will not shrink as much.
I have also made some Denver Broncos ones that were easier because I used the old school logo which was a big "D". That logo was easy to knit into the coozie instead of using the freaking felt letters.
