Re: Brownie Oreos...

  • I made them yesterday and wasn't a big fan either. And I love oreos, and brownies, so I figured these would be a winner. I didn't know if it was the frustration of the cookie bottoms sticking to the pan (even though I soaked the thing in non-stick spray) or what, but I made DH bring them to work today because I just was not happy with the outcome.

  • I was afraid of this.  I was planning to add them to a cookie tray this xmas, but I'm worried.  It seems like every recipe that people rave about I end up not liking on here.  Idk why.  Maybe I'll have to make them ahead of time as a trial to see what happens....
  • fell apart as in how?  Stuck to the pan?  Cooked too much?  Undercooked?

There's an ENTIRE post devoted to these on the other board I'm on.  Most common is people felt they are best warm, undercooked a tad and either crisco the muffin pan OR use liners.. also I read that adding a spoonful of batter to the tins before adding the brownie covered oreo helped as well.

I'm making them myself tomorrow for our work Xmas party on Friday.. so hopefully I'll have better luck.

  • yes. they stuck to the bottom of the pan despite spraying a ton.

and kelly, I'm with you. I always have an issue with the rave recipes.  But I am much better instinctual cook rather than a recipe follower....

  • I thought they were really good warm and just alright once cooled. I'm wondering if I overcooked them a bit though??  I will say they're a total pain to get out once the pan starts to cool.  I would suggest making 2 separate batches so you can try to avoid it.

  • I made these and they were amazing!!!  I soaked the muffin tin with spray and cooked them for ten minutes.  The minute they came out I ran a knife around each one.

I let them sit for a few minutes and they fell right out of the pan.  I just dipped each oreo in the batter and made sure it was covered, then put one in a tin.  Hope that helps everyone who may make them!

  • hmmmm mine came out great - no sticking. They are, like most cookies, best warm but mine are quite yummy even a few days later. Maybe the brownie mix you used? Maybe you cooked them too long? I cooked mine for about 11 minutes in my oven and used the knife right away and none of them stuck or broke apart.....

hm, I dunno. I used betty crocker mix, plain old brownie mix and baked them for 11 minutes too! And I ran the knife around them immediately and that's really where I had the biggest issue. The brownie would break up as I ran the knife around. Most of the cookies didn't stick, just a few but they were all messy and broken up. Just frustrating!

That was exactly what happened to mine and then they ended up all crunchy.  Just wasn't impressed.

I used Betty too and as soon as I ran the knife around mine broke and then trying to lift them the cookie fell apart.  It was just a mess.

  • I also made these last week (half regular oreos and half golden) and was not a fan.

  • I used Duncan Hines Fudge Brownies. I have non stick muffin pans and just lightly sprayed them with Pam. Not one stuck. They came out great and everyone at work RAVED about them. I agree that they are best straight from the oven but they were still awesome the next day too. Also, I like my brownies chewy at the edges and thought this was perfect. I made 2.5 dozen, I have 2.5 pans. I put them all in the oven at the same time on 350 for 15 minutes.

  • I had a few that stuck when I made mine but overall they mostly came out of my pan just fine.  I was running low on cooking spray so it seems as though those culprit cups were the ones that were tougher.  You definitely have to run the knife along right away, then I also did not let them cool in the pan for too long afterwards.  I took a small fork and gently got each one out.

Also I cooked mine 11 minutes....I see some cooked theirs 15 minutes so it might be one of those situations where every oven is a little different.  And if you don't like brownie edges, then this definitely is not the recipe for you because these are all about the edges for sure!

  • I made 48.. 6 got stuck (in the one dark pan I have), 2 were K casualties.

When I first lost the 6, I was texting with Lesa giving her updates when I finally decided to try cupcake liners on the last 6.  HOLY JESUS.  should have done that from the start!
