coconut poll

Personally, I like coconut. My H hates it, as do most of my family. I've never understood why people seem to dislike it so much. I'm wondering if I'm really in the minority with my coco-love.

Re: coconut poll

  • I used to hate it. But as I got older, not so much. It's ok.

I think the texture used to get me before. I dunno....it's wierd.

  • I adore coconut. You could sprinkle it on a dog turd and I would eat it.

That's what I would say.  Plus the most awesome cake in the world is the coconut cake at the Penisula Grill in Charleston.  Don't worry we'll eat their share of coconut.

  • I am the same way... I love coconut, DH no so much.. He says it is the texture of it that he dislikes about it. Even if he thinks something might have coconut in it he will avoid eating it.  You know those boxes of candy where you don't ever really know the type of chocolate you are going to be eating?! Yeah I get that all to myself because he is so afraid it might be coconut Stick out tongue

  • I absolutely hate the texture of it, the taste is fine.  I will eat coconut shrimp, its fried and the I don't feel the weird texture anymore.  I also love pina colada's.

  • HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!  The first time I ever remember having it was in 1st grade on cupcake day (parents made cupcakes & they were sold at school so the profit went to the school {Catholic school.]) I bought a cupcake that looked pretty with something sprinkled on top.  I spit it out and was so digusted.  I couldn't understand why someone would make a cupcake with paper on it.  I told my mom about the awful experience when I got home and she figured out that I was talking about coconut.

I can taste coconut in anything.  Even when someone swears there isn't coconut in something, I swear there is some sort of flavoring of it.  I often won't eat certain cookies, etc. because I detect a faint flavoring of coconut.  I may now be 34 but I will still spit something out if I detect coconut.

Strangely, I love the smell of suntan lotion, etc.

  • coconut milk I'm cool with, coconut flavoring, great... coconut flavored rum wiht pineaple juice dos mas por favor!  Shredded coconut I can't stand.  I'll get the boxes of 'mystery chocolate' and if I get a coconut one I'll spit it out like a child.  I agree with pp, it's a texture thing.
