Poor old thing went out with sparks.
It was just a cheap old Eureka upright, but it worked great for years.
I don't know what to do. We have carpet now. We'll get hardwood floors in the spring. Is there a vac that is good on both. I love Miele for hardwood, but don't know if it's good choice for carpet and carpeted stairs. It's also $$$.
Should I just get a cheap vac for carpet now? Any recs? Brand? Store? Deals?
I'm in a bind. We have company coming for the holidays (starting Tues) and a slumber party of 3rd grade giggly girls (Wed). My carpet will need to be vacuumed between now and then. WWYD?

Re: Vacuum just bit the dust
I work for an online cleaning retailer and most commercial vacuums for carpet will also work on hardfloors. But since you will eventually have all hard floors I found this bagless canister vac. Not sure what your looking to spend but this one is on sale for $144.99.
Here's the link...if you want more suggestions just ask! : )

The vac I have for my hardfloors is the Hoover PortaPower. That one is $99.00 + free shipping. The only thing is, it doesnt work great for carpet. But has awesome suction and is the best for hard foors...here's that link...
