TV in your bedroom? (Clicky poll)

I've always been anti-TV in our bedroom, and curious to what others do. I've been thinking about it so I can steal an extra few minutes of sleep while DS watches a show :)

Re: TV in your bedroom? (Clicky poll)

  • We have a "utilitarian" television in our bedroom.  I'd say it's only on (and being watched) for about an hour each day.  It's an old school 12 incher.  I like to listen to something when I fall asleep, so that's what this is for me.
  • I clicked SS b.c while we do have a TV in our bedroom we dont watch it regular.  Esp since we both watch the same shows.  The only time it gets used really is if I am sick and in bed or if we just happen to decide to go to bed to watch TV.

  • I need the TV to fall asleep at night.

  • We have one but only because the kids wouldn't stop turning it on/off in the playroom, so we moved it up on a sweater chest where they can't reach it.  DH & I never watch it in the bedroom, but we will turn it on for the kids to watch for a few minutes here and there.

  • We don't fall asleep with the tv on, but we watch it regularly.

  • We have a TV in our bedroom, but we really only watch it when there's a sporting event ending late at night (usually NFL football on a Monday night or an ACC basketball game) that we want to stay up and watch.
  • I don't think tv's belong in bedrooms. Bedrooms are for things like sleeping not watching tv. If I had one in my room I would have no arguement for why my child can't have one in his room (when he asks! LOL). We have plenty of other comfy rooms with TV's.
  • We have a TV in our room, but I've been fighting it forever. I don't think TVs belong in the bedroom. Not to mention--studies gave been done and (supposedly) people who have tvs in their room have less sex.
  • when we had dish hooked up, we both loved having the TV in our room. now that we just have regular antenna TV, there's no antenna hooked up to that one and we never got a converter box, so it just sits. we both comment on wanting to get it hooked up again so we can have some sort of noise in the room.

  • We used to, but we have not had a tv in our bedroom in a few years, so I said no. I really do not miss it and we have no plans to put a tv in our room.

I agree with this.  We are a 1 tv family and always plan to be.  I grew up in a house where tv was about all there was.....we just got back to NC from visiting my parents, who live alone, and I counted SEVEN working tvs their house (and who knows how many they have stashed in the basement)!  And my stepdad told me in secret what he's getting my mom for xmas......wait for it........another tv!  Confused   My parents are the laziest, most boring people.....all they do is stay glued to their tvs.  I refuse to have my family be like that.  We even built our house without cable jacks in the bedrooms so we can't put tvs in the rooms.

I with you both. We had one for a long time and "sexy" time decreased I put it into the living room (our old one died) and we turned our Dish Network off WE ARE NOW A NO TV FAMILY!  I sure when we have kids we will have to get a   converter box but until then I am A-OK without one at all. :)
