Well, that's a little dramatic but we were at my parents all day yesterday doing our annual cookie decorating and celebrating my brother's birthday. Someone texted me and I asked DH to get my phone (it was sitting on the bar above the kitchen counter). Next thing I know, it took a dive into the sink full of water. Rice, hairdryer and rice again could not revive it.
Here's the crappy part. I'm up for an upgrade in 3 weeks. I have phone insurance but I don't want to pay $50 for a new phone now and $200 for the phone I want in January. Maybe they'll have pity but I doubt it.
Option C - get them to activate my old phone and use it for 3 weeks.
I'm supposed to meet 2 different Scentsy customers today who I've never met, and I don't have their numbers anywhere else but my phone. FML!

Negative on the upgrade. I had my old phone so, they just activated it. I forgot how much I hated my old phone until now... OH,well. Amazing how your phone becomes such a crutch now!
Oh gosh....I just realized my calendar is gone. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Does your cell phone provider use sim cards for memory?
If so, run to walmart and buy yourself a $20 Go Phone (pre-paid phone). Pop your sim card in and it'll work perfectly until your upgrade.
Calls and Text only, but it works like a charm.
I had to do this when I dropped my phone in the ocean immediately after Greg proposed. We have a few go phones stashed in the house in case of emergencies like this.
It had an SD card but because I had a droid, they don't use SIM cards. Everything is backed up to the my google account. This is great but my old phone does not do that. So, until I get my new phone...I'm stuck with whatever contacts I had saved in my old one.
The good news is, my previous phone works. They activated it. I get e-mails, calls and texts. I think I can survive until the 8th.
I'm still sad about my calendar though.....

Oh no!!
I would be dead if my phone died, especially the calendar, my life is on it.
Verizon has the backup assistant, they should have downloaded it for you when you got the droid. So hopefully lots of phone numbers will be on it.

The backup assistant doesn't work with every phone. Mine was one of them. However, all numbers are backed up to my google account. So, the numbers are good. The problem is my "backup" phone doesn't sync to google so none of my numbers are in it unless they were there before I changed phones. It's not a big deal as long as I can access the numbers somehow. I'll just print them off and compare them with incoming calls, LOL!

I'm getting the DROID X. I'm pumped and have been waiting to get it for awhile now. I have a Droid Eris and loved it but the Droid X is so much better. Can't wait!
I should make a ticker, lol!

That really stinks, I'm glad you can still get them from one lace, but it still stinks.

You should! Nice that your phone bit the dust so close to your upgrade. Well, not nice so much, but less horrible.

Dude. That sucks. I have this overwhelming fear that I'll lose everything on my iPhone - and I don't back it up all the time [which I should do, but I'm lazy and don't], so if I ever broke it, I'd be a little screwed.
I'm glad you have a functioning phone though - only three weeks 'til the new one is in your hands!
for me, losing my pics would be the worst. But only because my calendar is empty. lol
I second the ticker! You should put one up!
I'm late on this, and just adding two thoughts.
1. That sucks that that happened.
2. I HATE cell phone issues. I always, always, always have them.
