Any Somerville Dwellers?

My SIL and I are renting an apartment in Somerville, starting in January. I'll be living with her while DH is overseas. Anyone else live in Somerville/Davis Square area?? Just wondering how safe/accessible it is.

TIA! Smile

Re: Any Somerville Dwellers?

  • I don't know the area that well, but my sisters went to Tufts and I think they'd say it's pretty safe.  Accessibility is excellent as there is the T and lots of buses that run in the area.

Glad you'll have someone keeping you company!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Davis Square has come a LONG way since I worked there way back when. It's very eclectic and there is a lot to do around there.

There is a T stop on the red line right in Davis Sq.

  • Yeah, I'm very excited to be able to walk to the T and get to work. No car for a year! And we're right near the bike path that goes from Somerville to Lexington. Smile And the apartment is so cute!
  • I grew up in Arlington right around the corner from Davis.  It's a pretty trendy spot with good nightlife.  You have to check out Kick @ss Cupcakes, so yummy.  Porter and Harvard Sq aren't too far if you're looking for other stuff to do, you can easily take the T to either one.  It is the city but as long as you're aware you'll be fine.
