Wow WI board slow - WI airport q

Wondering if the Milwaukee airport is small? We have a measly 30 minute gap between two flights on Frontier Airlines.  I'm assuming/hoping/praying that Frontier is small in a small airport, and it'll not be a crisis.

 Anyone?

  • You should be fine.  I've flown there twice since the end of October and we haven't had to go far between terminals to make connections.

I would *NEVER* book a flight set like that though.  Hope you deal with stress better than I do!

  • Thx!  Yeah the options were wicked limited.  We had one other HORRID option of 6:30am with like a 5 hour layover...arriving at rush hour at our destination.

So, for kids, work schedules, sanity, this is actually less crazy ;-)  (the tix were also $150-one way, and the other flights were $200-$400 or more, adds up for 4 of us.)

  • Oh wow, that sucks.  Sounds like a rock and a hard place.  Good luck!
  • I wouldn't consider MKE small. I actually really like that airport, but I haven't been in it in years. Used to fly out of there all the time growing up in WI. It's pretty easy to maneuver that airport.
  • I fly in to/out of MKE several times a year when visiting my sister - it's a decent airport. On the smaller side if you are comparing it to hub airports, but still a good size. I've always found it very easy to get around and not terribly spread out - but I've only ever flown on Midwest Express/Delta, so those gates may be more centrally located, IDK.

If your connecting flight is the same carrier, then I wouldn't think you have much to worry about - gate are usually grouped together.

  • We hated that airport.  I would call it medium sized with about 20 gates if I remember right.  There aren't many restaurants so if you ahve a lay over over a meal time it's hard.  Also, if you have to go from terminal to terminal you have to leave secruity and go back through security--it was odd to me.  Out plane was delayed so we were there for about 5 hours and it sucked, but if you have a short layover, not over meal time, and a connection with the same carrier I would say you are good to go.  Safe travels.
