Hi-I'm posting on here because most of you are moms...
I'm 9 weeks pregnant. I have a severe head cold. I was told by my obgyn that it is ok to take Robitussin while pregnant. I acidentially mixed up the dosage for the night and day and double dosed on the daytime cough and cold. I only exceeded the the dosage on Friday. Do you think everything will be ok? I am still sick and very stressed about my screw up and I keep googling robitussin and birth defects. I could bust into tears any moment. I know I should post on the Bump I figure you all have already been through this and not a first timer like me.
Re: Hi-I'm posting on here because most of you are moms...
Yes, everything should be OK. Just stick to the normal doses from here on out
Congratulations. H&H 9 months to you.
First - deep breaths ;-)
Second - everything should be fine. I suffered through bronchitis twice, a sinus & ear infection, asthma and 4 rounds of antibiotics while pregnant with my second child and she is just fine.
You can also take Delsym 12 hour - I found that worked way better for coughs than Robitussin.
I hope you feel better soon though - sick and PG is NOT fun!!! H&H 9 months to you!

First, I agree, BREATHE.
Second, avoid the bump boards at all costs they'll freak you out with answers to questions like this.
Third, it'll be FINE. I did something very similar when I was pregnant with my DD and she is fine, no respiratory defects or anything else that could be a side effect you read about on google.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep in mind that there is absolutely NO 'on purpose' testing done on pregnant women so there is a chance that anything you read could have been caused by other factors. Don't stress. H&H 9 months and everything will be fine.
Not a mom but I know the feeling of panicking after reading those darn Google results! I've trained myself to step away if I notice I'm starting to obsessively read up on stuff like this.
If it helps, none of the stuff I've gotten panicky about has ever come true
Like Michele said, deep breaths. And if you find you're consistently getting anxious there is no shame in talking to your doctor about it! Plenty of us have been there before.
Hope you have a happy and healthy remainder of your pregnancy! You must be so excited!
