Monk had his appointment last week friday and he is 33.5 inches tall and 27lbs 12 oz. He is doing well, but needs to be evaluated by a developmental specialist. Dr. is concerned about his lack of speech and some repetitive things he does when he plays...she doesn't think its really serious but wants him to be checked to be sure....I was trying to keep myself reasonable about this, I figured that it would happen, but I still cannot help but feel like I failed him in some way, or that I could have done something different. I am working on the mom guilt and today I will be finding a doctor to see for his eval.

Re: Joshs 18 month stats.
Ditto to Merin. But I know where you are coming from. I think all to often we as mom feel guilty or as thou we failed our child. Just remember that each child developes differently and at different rates. And maybe Monk some has some of his own quirks, like repeating things. It could just very well be something that he grows out of.
And, if it makes you feel better, look at all the success Jill has had with D and his speach.
Keep your chin up and dont be so hard on yourself.
Dream, we go to the same peds. You know we did this at 18 months too. I had guilt about it for a while, but I am going to be honest and this is my opinion. Boys are slower in general with speech development. Davis is finally coming around at 21 months and saying a few words.
If you have any questions email me. I can tell you where we went, etc.. And it wouldn't hurt to call Help Me Grow now, the process with them is long!!! We started back in October with them and are just now in the final stages of getting everything situated with them. It took 2 months!!!
Also, Davis has sensory issues too, like Jake. I guess this is impairing his ability to talk. But seriously, he has come a long way after just being shown a few things to do with him.
